There is no broadcast lisence necessary for using NSV.

However, You are responsible for any royalty or licensing of the actual video content that you select to stream.

You have to pay whoever owns the content you are distributing.

Hi everyone:

If you own ALL the rights to the content or if the content is either under a Creative Commons license or public domain, you don't pay anybody.

Though if the content is under a Creative Commons license, you must get permission from the licensee to use the content and abide by the terms of the CC license which the owner of the content has established and any additional terms which the licensee may want you to follow.

Consult legal counsel if you have any questions of a legal nature on the matter since that's what you should do anyway.

All that said though....You should be aware that NSV IS NOT meant to be used in a professional environment as it is still considered to be BETA software. If stability = $$$, then NSV IS NOT for you. You should use one of the commercial products like Windows Media or RealNetworks for this.

In other words...NEVER rely on Open Source software to work in a commercial environment (especially in sitations where stability = $$$).

Just an FYI

Thats a bit backward Jeepers.

Linux, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, MYSQL and Icecast are several examples of Open Source software that are used in commercial environments. The software does very well in stability, functionality and performance.

I'll gladly take a webhost running BSD over a webhost running Windows any day of the week.
