Enqueue in Winamp Freezing / Not Working

So I've had winamp for quite a few years with no problems but upon downloading the latest few versions the enqueue option freezes winamp and when it does unfreeze at times, no new files have been added...Any suggestions?

Same here

I have the same problem here.

For years, I've been able to enqueue a new file by right-clicking on it in the Open file(s) dialog. Now, it just freezes Winamp for a few seconds and the file doesn't get added to the playlist...

But before going further, I want to tell you why I do this because I'm pretty sure that most of you may think it's weird to use the Open file(s) dialog to enqueue new songs. Well, indeed, it is... except for people that don't use the playlist alot... like me. Sometimes, I just want to listen to a new song... so I open the Open file(s) dialog to pick it up. However, in some situations, I may want the current song to end before listening to the new one so I just add the new song to the playlist from there.

I had no problem doing this in the past. It always worked...until recently. I think I faced the issue for the first time in Winamp 5.13 (or 5.12? or 5.1x? I don't remember but it's still an issue in 5.21).

Note that 'enqueue' still works if used in Explorer. It's only broken if used in the Open File(s) dialog.

Same here (on XP SP2).

There have indeed been some changes to the browse dialogs in Winamp. Perhaps this is a lost feature, or it could be classified as a bug, not sure...

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

one suggested workaround:

Yeah, I did a few re-installs too and it didn't help.

But good news! I did something that seems to have fixed it. In a normal Explorer window (My Computer), I browsed to an MP3 file and enqueued it. This time, it showed up in the playlist and Winamp did not freeze! Then, I tried again to enqueue a file using the steps I described. It worked! Winamp hasn't frozen since. Maybe it was a wrong entry in the registry. But it's fixed now.

I guess that's Windows for you.

the workaround I had found for this issue was:

* My Computer > Tools > Folder Options...
* File Types (tab)
* Locate the MP3 entry.
* Click on Advanced
* Click on 'Enqueue in Winamp'
* Click on 'Edit'
* Uncheck the 'Use DDE'
* Click OK
* OK, OK, Close

and it worked for me...

So it looks like some type of internal system communication error. If only i knew why...
