Playlist reset on restart
I don't know if this has been reported before, but I was not able to locate a similar post.
I am using Winamp 5.21 on a windows xp workstation with all windows updates applied. I recently upgraded from an older winamp version (Unfortunately I can't remember what version it was). When I make a playlist, exit winamp, and then start winamp again, the playlist is saved, and remains. When I restart windows, without pushing "X" in winamp first, the playlist is not saved, and it loads the previous playlist (the one that got saved before) This was not a problem on the earlier install. Is there any workaround for this? |

Winamp saves most of its settings on exit. So if you force Winamp to close by rebooting your computer, Windows may not give Winamp enough time to save settings.
For me, Winamp mostly exits fast enough to save the settings, but I prefer just closing Winamp manually to be sure. Third-party plugins sometimes delay Winamp exit time a bit, but basically, the more plugins (native/third-party) you have installed, the longer it takes for Winamp to exit, and the higher the chance a proper exit isn't possible due to Windows forcing an exit. Perhaps there is a way for Winamp to tell Windows to wait. If so, that would need to be implemented (and thus be a feature request). You could install Playlist undo by DrO (scroll down for latest version, 0.4.0) to automatically have your playlist saved regularly (without the need to exit Winamp). However, I'd still recommend to close Winamp properly before shutting down Windows. |
