Question on wma files.

Hello, I have a quick question!

My computer that I have in my room runs on about 9 GB memory, and it's almost filled. My computer holds all my MP3's, including my wma files. However, I'd like to play them in Winamp, and not Windows Media, because it signifcantly slows down my entire computer. I run on version 2.77 of Winamp, and I cannot download any newer versions, because:

1)I've grown accustom to the old versions.
2)Version 5 has many options that I do not need, or I don't want to use.
3)My computer can not hold anything else downloaded into it.
4)My memory, video, ect. cards are all outdated, as this use to run on Windows 98 Plus!

I'd like to know, if there is still a plug in in circulation of a way of playing wma files on the old 2 versions. All the forums I have gone to, the site have either taken off this programs, or they were shut down a long time ago.

Also, the FAQ had nothing conserning this, nor did the troubleshooting.

I'd appriciate any help, thanks so much!

1. Winamp < 5.21 isn't supported here

Winamp < 5.21 contains several bugs.

2. Just uncheck in the installer, what you don't need

3. Cannot believe this, you should delete unneeded data, then your pc is as fast as before

I did uncheck alot of the stuff, I have downloaded the 5.2 three times onto the computer. I did delete the un-needed data in my entire computer, but my memory is so small that it fills up just as quickly again. I don't even know what 2 GB is in this computer.

Well, if your computer cannot handle Winamp's small footprint when only what you NEED is installed, you might want to consider upgrading it. Depending on how old your computer is, you can either just buy more RAM and a bigger hard drive, or buy a new one.

I can't afford to get a new one. We did put in more memory already, but that was nothing compared to what I need. And it'd be too much of a hassle to move 5 GB worth of stuff, when I could just get the stupid plug in. @.@ I just can't find it.

9.49 GB is all that this computer can hold as of now. My dad plans on getting extra harddrive for the entire network(wireless), but I just don't see that as working for four different computers.

I mean RAM, not HDD space. Also, what OS are you running? I see little reason why your computer could handle Winamp 2.xx and not 5.xx Lite.

I run on 348 RAM, and this was....A 98 about 6 years ago, and approximately half a year ago, it was upgraded with a bootlegged version of XP.

I cleaned up my computer, and I shall attempt again to download the newer version. Maybe my computer's just stupid. >o<

That may be your problem. Bootlegged copies of any software are often problematic.

That's all I could get. I'd rather not go out and buy a whole new computer, if it was working fine, it just needed to be wiped clean of all the crap.

My computer hasn't crashed yet, and it's playing the wma! Yes! *keeps fingers crossed* But now all the text is different...@.@ I gotta get use to it...
