Getting Started...

Hi there,

I am 18 from Manchester, UK.

I have searched the forums to find the answer to my question but to no avail.

I was hoping I could find assistance here.

Basically, I want to start my own broadcast, I have downloaded SAM Broadcaster to broadcast with, and typed http://localhost:8000/listen.pls
But I am unable to connect, it says Page Cannot be Displayed.

What am I not doing, and is there anything I have missed out?

Thanks in advance.

Btw i have 10meg Broadband with 75 gigs Bandwidth allowance. On the Smar test I get 4 stars.

Thanks

you wont be able to see the url as you have a router that does not support local loopback

you need to use http://localhost:8000

or you can see how many connections there are on the dnas

watch this mic tutorial here for tips on getting your mic going ,,, http://www.streamsolutions.co.uk/fla...ials/Decks_mic

yep but it sounds like the recording mixer is set to mic only and you dont want that as i cant hear the sounds...

you need it set to (depending on the soundcard) what u hear / stereo mix / wave out.

make sure you have the correct mixer you are working on

the recording mixer is still wrong

its set to mic and all they can hear is the tunes from your speakers into your mic

recording mixer>options>properties>check the boxes you need showing

this way you show the elements of the mixer you need to be able to control...

and you may need to getta mic with a switch so you can turn it off lol

Check your upload speed first . http://www.speakasy.net/speed

now take the upload speed and do some simple math

UPLOAD / YOUR STREAM SPEED = ## of users you can have listen in. I would also take that number -1 for overhead

For example 900k upload / 128 k stream = 7.031 or 7 listeners. However you need somethign left over for control and web etc. So 6 is the max

you can edit the sc_serv config file and change the MAX to more if you need it.

If you dont have enought upload speed the music will pause, buffer or users wont be able to connect. Then you need to consider getting a shoutcast host with 1500-3000GB transfer a month.

Good luck.

search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn.
