Grumbling Noise

When I play Mp3s that are dont have a lot going on in them. No electric guitars, or drums. when it could just be vocals or vocals with minimal instruments, I hear a grumbling sound. Winamp had this a long time ago, but it got better and hasn't done it for a while. Now it is doing it again, ever since I updated to the most recent one. Is there a fix for this? Do i go back to an earlier version or not use Winamp at all?

Try these DirectSound output tweaks.

Do you have a DSP/Effect plugin selected?
Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Plug-ins > DSP/Effect
Any difference if you turn it off?

If no luck, please provide system specs.

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

The direct sound didnt work and i dont have any dsp effects.
I have attached two sound files, one made from winamp, the other made from windows media player. Clearly, you can hear the difference. My computer is not doing this. It is something in winamp.

same problem

I have the same problem. Files played with WinAmp sound like crap, but sound great with Windows Media Player.

Obvious solution is to use Media Player, but I like to use WinAmp for shoutcast radio.

What is causing this? Sounds grumbling, scratchy, bad bass and EQ does not fix.
