I would like to play audio cd's using the sound card DAC rather than the one in the cd drive. Can Winamp be configured to enable the digital input to the sound card rather than the audio one?

Hi!
If you are talking about the SPDIF digital cable from the digital output of your drive to the digital input of the soundcard, it should be enablable in the mixer (volume control), enabling the digital CD input. This depends on your soundcard. It must be a distinct channel in the mixer, maybe hidden, maybe muted. If you don't have digital out on your drive you can still use your soundcard DAC enabling the digital reading by audio extraction. If your drive supports it, there will be a check box called "enable digital reading" or something like that in its properties in control panel/system/CD ROM drives/properties. And if your drive supports nothing, there is still a solution : download Winamp CD Reader plugin at http://www.url*****~copah/CDReader.htm , and follow the redme instructions in order to disable the analog default Winamp CD plugin. Hope it helps Pio2001 Pio2001 |

Thanks for the advice. The plug in you referred me to did the trick. The problem with the other approaches is that my sound card has no auxiliary inputs, only the PCI bus (it is a 24 bit 96k device that provides great audio perfomance but little additional functionality). Thanks again.
