Listing frozen on Shoutcast YP

I recently switched to SAM Broadcaster from Winamp, and my YP listing seems to be frozen. It will not update, but instead stays frozen on the same song/listener count and will not update. I changed my station details via SAM's encoder, and the listing did not change.

I also tried going back to Winamp and updating it, and it still would not change.

Any ideas? Thanks!

This is a known problem, and the response of some is "lump it".

I personally hope that someone that can kick the server will do so, but since in the U.S. Monday is a holiday, Tuesday could be the earliest anything happens. It's been this way for a week at least.

I've sent Craig a PM and asked him to look into it. Remember, it IS a holiday weekend here in the US so it will be Tuesday until anything could happen.

All due respect chris but craig and all of the mods are aware of it,

This has been ongoing for months now...hence the get on with attitude has been adopted by most.

maybe now all the old programmers are no longer with nullsoft its a lack of technical abillity or maybe a lack of interest in something that doesnt earn any revenue,

There is revenue generated by the banner ads. That ad inventory is sold by AOL to advertisers wanting to be part of the AOL network. Just read a book on the subject.

It would take, what, 2 - 5 minutes to reboot a few servers?

ok dont get me wrong as im not sticking up for nullsoft or anyone else here but that advertising space doesnt even earn 1% of aols income so not really a massive plus point for fixing the yp as a matter of urgency.

also you are working on the pretense that a reboot will work the magic but i imagine it isnt that simple in reality.

i just feel that although everyone has the right to voice their opinions that they are preaching to the choir and it will get done when it gets done.

This has been mentioned before in another thread - but why not add yourself to another yp listing. It's FREE and looks nice:

You know somethmes, a simple reboot does help, but sometimes it doesn't either. Anyways, I don't think anythings wrong, everything seems working fine for me. Maybe you guys are just unlucky?

We are having some issues with our slave databases's not syncing to the master. This will hopefully be fixed next week. I understand your frustation, but atleast you're being listed (so what if the metadata is old).

To expand. The problem has not been ongoing for months, just the same symptoms for two seperate issues.

Prior to the new online services a different architecture was used to power the YP. There were quite a few problems with the database in this case, where by, after some failures, the system was rewritten to be properly load balanced.

The issue currently, as Tag has stated, is with the sync's between those database servers accepting inserts, and those returning the queries. Which is why your listing requests are currently working, but your actual listings are not being updated.

It's beyond annoying. It's completely constipated. Nobody is doing a thing about it. What amazes me is that Shoutcast continues running, without anybody actually involved in keeping it going.

Yes, it's like things written before on this problem, so I didn't feel like sitting there lamely waiting to see if there'd be any improvement.

Either shut up or help out. I doubt you can help either so if you're just going to sit there, sit there quietly like the rest of us. The team is working hard to fix it already so appreciate they even care. This is free software after all. Enjoy it.

Interesting recommendation. I've tried different ISPs and gateways (on major backbones) yet the StreamFinder homepage always stalls and then times out after a minute. Just an observation.

if thats the case, then why this site still exist on the net??

i've tried different measures on exposing my station and even i signed onto streamfinder and like i already said once before, theres hardly any listeners checking in like it was before this whole mess began.

i was told to have a website and advertise to get listeners - that didnt work.
obioulsy not all of us amature broadcasters have the big flashy websites, the latest hits or big feeds of bandwidth speed to try to compete with the big stations thats still listed on the YP (although its still frozen, but they are still listed regardless)

anyway just for the record i'll still run my station still, the reason being is i take it im on someones favorite list (judging that im seeing the same IP that pops up almost everyday), even though the majoity of my listeners mainly came the YP

thats my opinion on this whole problem, and to the one who is reading this (the one who put the "no whining" photo up) just to let you know is that im not whining or complaining, and to the one that said "if you rely on the YP for listeners, then you are not serious about broadcasting" to me this is a hobby to share my favorite music with anyone in the world, im not trying to be liek Digitaly Imported or any of the major online radio stations out there today.

im just stating the facts here in my point of view

you are in no way stating fact, you are giving your point of view.

your life isn't depending on the YP listing on shoutcast.com , so read what Tag wrote and wait.

it will be handled when there is time , it's not top priority

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

it looks like this will not be resolved ...in the near future if at all ,so maybe we should list a few sites that do work
http://www.no-ip.com/
works with acc+ and windows media(with plugin)and it will take a feed from winamp & if your running a website it can run direct from a website via a embedded player

No problems getting kicked off the air, but yeah - for the past 48 hours two of my three bitrate streams have had broken clusters, and it's starting to create problems. Relay servers don't know where to redirect listeners when they are full.

All we can do is wait it out - maybe they had to pull everything apart to fix it. Ironically, stats are working again...
