Try a clean install of the latest version (Winamp 5.22), with no extra/third-party plugins.

If that doesn't help, we'll need a bit more info. Have a look here:

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

I didn't notice anything peculiar in your log.

Do you get any specific error messages?
Quote:
eg. in WinXP Error message, you'll see it say something like:
"To see what data this report contains, click here"
which will then reveal the following required information:
AppName: Winamp.exe | AppVer: ? | ModName: ? | ModVer: ? | Offset: ?
Also, do you close Winamp properly before shutting down Windows?

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

It seems the attachment didn't work.
Click the 'Post a Reply' button below this thread > Attach file.
The full error message really would be helpful.

Apart from that, I noticed you're not running a virus scanner. If I were you I'd install one (eg. AVG or Avast, both free).
You could also do a free online virus scan on one of the sites listed here.

Do you experience any other problems with your system, except for Winamp?

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

Did you install all components from the Full installer options?

At a guess, try removing/disabling/deleting:

Winamp\Plugins\pmp_p4s.dll

Plays4Sure Portable Media Player support requires WinXP sp1 or higher,
but you don't have any service packs installed (ick!)

Maybe also try disabling primosdk.dll (Winamp root dir) which is the file which links Winamp to the Sonic Burning Engine. Don't delete it, just rename it to eg. primosdk.dll.off (note, this will disable CD Burning Support in Winamp.)

Other than that, yup, the full error message details might help...

Note, the attachment limit is 100kb, so your screenshot needs to be smaller than that for it to work (recommended/accepted image formats = jpg or png)

WinAmp update versions above 5.1 cause trouble

Thank goodness I have Win XP with the "restore" ability. I have had WinAmp 5.1 and it is just *incredible*. Does far more than I even know! But I get these version update notices from WinAmp, and download the newer version as they suggest. Have done this for **TWO** newer versions. And I just attempted downloading and installing (after closing all running programs, including WinAmp 5.1) the *newest* version, which seems to be 5.24.

My advice -- dont do it. Every time I install a version newer than 5.1, and then launch the new WinAmp, I get an error message indicating there is a problem and Windows is closing WinAmp. So, I simply use Window's restore and my system goes back to the reliable WinAmp 5.1 verson. And I then delete the setup programs for the versions newer than that.

I consider myself a very normal and basic user. If this problem ocurs with me, you can be sure it is a problem for 1,000's of other users as well. It is too bad WinAmp software engineers cannot provide updates that work for the very *basic* user. The only plugins I have are the standard visualizations and the DFX sound enhancer (downloaded from the WinAmp site).

So...be *very* careful if you are thinking of updating your working WinAmp version.
