Just installed Winamp 2.72 and can manually play files. But when I click a Shoutcast playlist and click "open the file from the current location", Winamp opens but doesn't play. Nothing seems to be streaming. I have plenty of memory and speed and am running Win2000. I uninstalled RealPlayer before Winamp install.

Try this...
In Winamp, Ctrl+P (for preferences)> Setup> File Types Under Associated Extensions click pls (it may be at the bottom of the list) make sure it is highlighted. Click on the close button and restart Winamp |

Still not working
Thanks for the suggestions. PLS is listed in the extension list and mp3 is the default but Shoutcast is still not buffering. I can open the pls manually from Winamp and it plays fine. I'm lost.

Anyone come up with a solution to this problem yet?
I'm using IE 5.0 (not 5.5) and Windows 95. I don't get the "open file from current location" window, but it does try to open. Then in the WinAmp Playlist I get: 1. Temporary 2. Internet 3. Shoutcast-Playlist (1) But no sound/connection. If I paste the Shoutcast URL into a "file open", then all is well. I'd prefer, of course, just to "click" to listen on the Shoutcast page without going through the copy/paste. I don't have this problem listening to streaming audio from MP3.COM. Never had this problem before. Only since I got a new computer and reloaded latest versions of Winamp and Realplayer (everything still works fine on the old computer). I already tried the posted file association "fixes" (other than messing with the Registry). |

I am having the same problem. It loads the playlist and when I click on it WinAmp blips for a second and then nothing. I can play audio files fine, but nothing from SHOUTcast.

Nope
Non of those fixes worked. When I click on listen I don't get the dialog box asking to save or open from location. It automatically puts the playlist on the winamp file list. When I try to play or double click on the playlist title it looks like winamp tries to play and then stops.

Problems with Shoutcast, Live365, MP3.com
Since the upgrade, I've also been having problems with streaming MP3's. On Shoutcast, there are some stations that play, some that don't. When they don't, WinAmp attempts to open a "find file" dialogue box and shows "No File" in the playlist window.
This problem has also been occuring on Live365 for various streams, and some streams on MP3.com. Something seems to be up. (And yes, I've tried the listed solutions). Thanks. |
