Busted by my Wife- Thanks A Lot Winamp!

So for years I've been happily chugging along with media players such as MusicMatch, Divx, Quicktime etc.
I finally decide to try out Winamp and I'll be honest, I do like the all-in-one functionality all rolled into one nice package named Winamp but let me tell you how I got...

...WHOOOPSHH, -BUSTED!!!

...by my wife.

I'll start by saying, and only saying, she was gone this weekend...

Now just for the record, I'm no weirdo at all, but what the hell, lets see whats out there eh!?!

Anyhow, long story short she decided to play some MP3s while I was at work (nothing unusual). Normally MusicMatch would pop up and do its thing, but evidently Winamp popped up and in the main Winamp player staring right in your face scrolling across the main screen was, "so-and-so, video your husband just watched" (you can fill in the quotes with your favorate video).

WHOA, SNAP!

So I know in Windows Media Player theres an option to not store player history. Is there an option like that in winamp? I unchecked all the "enable history" stuff in the history section of the options menu, but the the last viewed file still shows up scrolling across the player. How do I disable that!!!

I am happy to say, my wife and I have a very understanding relationship and she basically just laughed at me because I couldn't cover my tracks; but I know there are a more than many men who's relationships would be over if something like this ever happened!

So help us all will ya!?

In the Playlist Editor window, click one of:

Manage Playlist (modern skin) / List Opts (classic skin - rt-click) button:
New playlist (clear) (Ctrl+N)

or

Rem button > Clear Playlist (Ctrl+shift+del)

before you close Winamp.

Optionally, after you've cleared the playlist and closed Winamp, you can then also go to the Winamp program folder in Explorer, and set the properties of winamp.m3u to "read-only", which will cause the playlist to not save any changes and always be blank on Winamp startup.

Thanks for the tip, and just for the record that did work like a charm. However, is this something I (or anyone for that matter) will have to do every time they close Winamp for it not to show up in the history? Is there no checkbox that dis-allows this from happening in the first place!?!

Please forgive my noobish-ness, I'm not at all new anything PC or MediaPlayer, I am however new to Winamp and this first experience has been, ..well, embarassing!

if you really want to blank it out without going to rem > clear playlist everytime, download autoplay & time restore

with a blank playlist. save it as a .m3u and place it anywhere. i.e. your winamp folder.

under winamp preferences > plugins > general > time restore & autoplay > copy and paste the path (C:\path\to\file\1.m3u) to that .m3u file you just created. into the "load playlist at startup" and make sure you checkmark the appropriate box.

When you once cleared the list and afterwards write-protected the file DJ Egg mentioned, there's nothing more to do. Each time you open up Winamp your playlist is empty.
