Choppy playing and memory leaking

Before I start, I have a Win XP Home Gateway 360, Conexant Sound Card, Intel Graphics card, and a 60 GB hard drive.

Lately, Winamp has been using more memory than usual, and occasionally it'll cause the music to have pauses where they need not be. I usually use the Pacemaker plug-in, but tried playing it without and it would still use up more CPU's than it should have to use. The priority on it is normal.

What could be causing this? Overheating? Something on my computer that shouldn't be? I don't get it...
