When I try playing a song no sound comes out. The time elapsed bar races through the song (it speeds through a minute of the song per actual second). Other applications can play music fine. I know of other people having the same problem. It used to work fine. I had version 6.6 before when I started getting this problem I now updated to 7.2 and still doesn't work. HELP ME PLEASE!

Sounds like the Diskwriter plugin is selected. Switch back to the Waveout plugin. Preferences (control + P) plugins > output > Nullsoft Waveout plugin.

Maybe this helps ->

Hi dude,

maybe the disk writer has been activated by accident. Go check 'Preferences' -> 'Plug-Ins' -> 'Output', and make sure that either 'Nullsoft waveOut plug-in", or 'Nullsoft DirectSound plug-in' is enabled. By selecting any of these two, the disk writer will be switched off, bringing Winamp back to play your music flawlessly . Simply make sure that 'Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in' is not selected - That's all. Easy .

The disk writer's only purpose is to save the currently selected song in Winamp as WAVE onto your harddisk, and not for listening to music (well, I am just sayin' ).

I hope that helped ya out, dude.

PS: Are you sure about the version numbers you posted ?!?! Nah, you ain't ...

Peace.

Matt and Budgie, you were both a great help and my winamp is already working, thanks to your instructions. Actually, Budgie, yours were clearer so dont worry about Matt being faster. Peace back to you both.
Your good people!

That's great

I've typed it that much I get bored of giving full instructions.
Of course it's hard for people that aren't good with computers (whether that is you or not I don't know) so full instructions are of more help.

I'll stop being lazy
