ML Playlists lost in 5.23 upgrade, nowhere to be found!

All of my media library playlists got lost when I upgraded to 5.23 (I don't remember whether I did it multiuser or not, I'm pretty sure I just left it on the default option). I looked this problem up in the tech support greatest hits, and the problem is that Documents and Settings\*\Application Data\Winamp -doesn't exist-. I can't find an old profile to copy. I even searched my hard drive for *.m3u and could not find the playlists I'm looking for. Also, the playlists are the only thing that's gone - the rest of the ML is there, playcounts and all.

So, anybody know where my stuff went?

All of my ML playlists cleared. And now when I try and choose tracks and then "Send to" that playlist, everything in the playlist gets wiped out and the new stuff I've sent there is all that remains. It's very frustrating because I've just wiped out dozens of playlists after months of organizing them. Any ideas as to what is causing this? I don't want to work on recreating these playlists if they're going to get wiped out everytime I send something new to the playlist. Ugh...

Yes, unfortunately this is what happens with programs like Winamp that have many bugs (WA 5.22 cleared my whole iPod). Anyway, you can't get the playlists back unless you system restore or something, but there was a fix for this problem released. I've attached the file.

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....=248100#update

Winamp 5.23 was updated to build 672 on 9th June and includes the fixed ml_playlists.dll, along with a newer ml_disc.dll which fixes another minor bug (see above link for details). So if you're still using build 669 from 8th June, then that'll be why...

@ OdessaCubbage
There are currently NO known 5.23-specific bugs.

@ DJ Egg:
I have seen repeated reports of the same problems with 5.23, such as CD burning and video playback. I don't know if these are bugs, but they might be.

I haven't. At least not any valid & reproducable bug reports which follow the specified guidelines anyway.

Well of course they don't follow the specified guidelines, everyone's too lazy for that.

and that's why they are generally ignored since the specified guidelines do help to properly track down those issues. if people cba to provide the information that's required then why should any one in this forum or even the devs bother to waste their time? it's all about helping each other and if some don't want to help at the start by providing enough information then the limited time that people do have can be spent on other things which will be of use.

I updated the playlist dll, but I notice my playlists are still gone...If winamp has so many bugs, may I offer a humble suggestion: stop shoving your new updates in my face. Each of the last several updates has been entirely useless to me; I've been getting along fine without them. Actually, they're a hassle, because they waste time since I have to make sure to uncheck retarded stuff like the agent and emusic offer, I always have to back up my avs presets cause the installer always adds a bunch I don't want, and in this case, they just cold delete my stuff.

I want one more update, and all I want from it is for winamp to stop bugging me to update forever. I'll come to you guys when I need something new.

the update notification option is on the general preferences page in the preferences.

as for the other aspects the install should be remembering the previous installation options and with the avs issue, unchecking avs in the installer is all that's needed to not have these extra ones added.
