Video files of *.dat format are not running

I want to use the Winamp 5.09 for my video files having a format *.dat. Winamp doesn't support this format but when I use the 3rd party input plugin ,it solves my problem partially i.e the plugin doesn't use the Winamp Equalizer.Plz help me to sort out this problem

add ;DAT to in_dshow's extention list (prefs > plugins > input)

if a dat file is a video, its probably from a VCD, mpeg1
