5.23 Startup problem - M$ C++
Ok this is my first problem from Winamp
Updating frequently this is the first time I have encountered this. Problem; during program loading (Executing winamp.exe) after loading a pop-up (error message) comes up saying: Quote:
Current System Specs Running Windows XP: Media Center Edition 2005 Pentium 4 - 2.4GHZ 1 GB Ram 200 Gb hard drive Installed: (May have conflict; doubt it due to previous versions of Winamp working) K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.25 Cole2k Media Codec Pack V6.04 Re-Installed Winamp 5.23 SEVERAL times and even uninstalled and deleted directory for fresh installation Anymore Info Please post here for it I have used the search function for this problem and google too; but to no avail. Thank you in future EDIT New info! Player still functions but with that error message cannot be removed if it is (Alt+f4 or cancel or clicking OK) Then Winamp.exe will be terminated; I am currently using it like that; the pop-up error is using up my taskbar!

Please provide full system specs (read this!).
Also, please confirm you followed the steps outlined in the clean install procedure when you did a fresh installation. |

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WPA] regedit.exe /s WXMCE_WPA_CRACK.reg
Cracked version of Windows? Oops :-p You could try disabling Microsoft Machine Debug Manager (mdm.exe) in Services Control Panel (Stop the service, then set it to 'manual' instead of 'automatic') Good luck. |

If yours is legit, then I strongly recommend that you remove that startup entry asap, because most search results on google tend to suggest that if it's not a Windows crack, then it's a trojan.
Checkmark that entry only in HJT scan result, and click 'Fix checked' But before you do that, locate the WXMCE_WPA_CRACK.reg file (which will probably be in the "Windows\system32" dir), zip it up, and attach it to a post here. This way I can examine it, and see what it's adding to the registry. Maybe I can then provide you with another .reg file to repair/remove whatever damage it's done. Services Control Panel can be found under: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services or: start > run > services.msc Scroll down for: Microsoft Machine Debug Manager (mdm.exe) Right-click it, select Properties. Click the Stop button, wait for the service to be stopped. Then change the "Startup Type" drop-down menu from 'automatic' to 'manual' Does the error occur only when the Media Library is set to the Now Playing page? Have you tried changing to a different view, eg. Local Media > Audio then closing & restarting Winamp? If the settings aren't saved (as a result of the crash) then edit this line from the file winamp\plugins\gen_ml.ini in Notepad: last_view=Audio (yours will probably currently say: last_view=Now Playing) Then it's down to you to find out what's causing the runtime error (if it's not related to that stratup trojan entry). Maybe it's a conflict with Spyware Doctor? eg. maybe Spyware Doctor is blocking Winamp or Internet Explorer from running certain scripts? |

There's no need to upload anything. All old versions are available at www.winampheaven.net
However, we would still be interested in knowing how to reproduce the problem, because as it stands at the moment, we can't. |
