We can't help you unless you provide the following info:
Full system specs CPU + speed | RAM | Windows OS | Soundcard | Videocard | DirectX version Also tell us whether you've installed any 3rd party Winamp plugins. Particularly: General Purpose; Input; active DSP/FX and/or Vis Basically, Winamp 2.72 works perfectly fine for me & 1000's of others, so it must be a problem at your end somewhere. Quick fixes include: Close Winamp; goto Winamp dir & delete winamp.ini Next time you open Winamp, a new ini file is created with all the default settings. Uninstall (via Add/Remove Programs) & reinstall For all versions of Winamp: http://www.winampheaven.com |

450 mhz p2
128 MB RAM win 98 Rage LT Pro AGP 2X (vid.) (32MB) JBL Pro directX 8 plug ins are vis. "advanced visualization studio v.2.3.3 [vis_avs.dll]" and "Nullsoft Tiny Fullscreen 2000 v.1.0 [vis_nsfs.dll]" but i don't think they're active so forget about 'em... btw, if u restore settings to default.. what are the components that are going to be affected? well the thing is that my 2.71 works perfectly but when i upgrade to 2.72 this "bug?" starts to crap up... |

Ravage
I notice you've got an SBLive soundcard. Creative have been shipping a dodgy Winamp General Purpose plugin with their driver updates. If there's a file called gen_nomad.dll in your Winamp\Plugins dir remove it & try again (make sure Winamp is closed first) uwil Can you play an Audio CD if you select "Play -> Audio CD" from the main Winamp menu? btw, what is JBL Pro? Is this your soundcard? Oh, and those 2 Nullsoft plugins you listed are actually included in the default download. They are not classed as extra 3rd party plugins. Seeing you don't have any such plugins, restoring all the default settings could probably do you the world of good, tho' there's a chance that you're already using all the defaults anyway! All the default input & output plugins are effected, plus the various options in Prefs. You can always personally modify these afterwards by entering Winamp Prefs (Ctrl + P) btw, in : Prefs -> FileTypes Have you selected association with CDA files? Is there a checkmark next to Associate with Audio CD? The only other possible fixes I can think of are: 1. Goto : Prefs -> Input -> CD Plugin -> Configure Uncheck : sample data from soundcard for vis 2. Goto : Multimedia Control Panel -> CD tab Check/uncheck : use digital audio extraction 3. Replace the default plugin with the CDReader Be sure to read the accompanying text file which explains how to enable this plugin. 4. Check this thread from Tech Support Greatest Hits & follow the links from there. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=36850 [RE: "Problems with Audio CD" Section] Y'all Regarding the slow playlist issue: I've noticed a fair few other people posting with this problem. eg, this thread : http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=40848 Some basic fixes are mentioned here, and although they didn't work for the 2 people involved, they might for you . . . so maybe give it a try? I & many others don't experience this problem, but maybe there's a fix on the way. It may be a wee bug in one of the input plugins that's causing this issue with some systems. (MPEG Audio Decoder, DirectMusic MIDI, Mikmod module plugin, etc) If so, I'm sure a link to an updated & fixed version will get posted here, or it'll be fixed in time for the next version. If v2.71 is working ok for ya, why not stick with it for now, eh? All versions @ http://www.winampheaven.com |
