Using extended system USB device with winamp

Does anyone know of a progrm that would allow me to use a USB Irda device to control winamp?

I have searched everyewhere, but everything works with serial devices only. I found one at http://www.winremote.com but it only works under 95/98 and will not run under 2000

I tried that...

but since it is USB it is not connected to a com port so I cannont select a com port like the program asks for
