i reformatted & my back-up tunes won't play now --- comes up with 'destination format not found' - any clues? these all played before?

When my brother was looking for a DVD player, the sales rep said that some, if not most, DVD players didn't play CD-Rs, just so you can't play them on there, so I guess it'd force you to buy an extra component.... Pretty retarded huh?
