Hotkeys not working when Winamp isn't selected

Hello,

I just changed my computer and i'm having problem with my winamp. First my hotkeys and the z,b,c,x shortcut weren't working but I managed to do it with DCIM hotkeys and Nview fixer v1.0. But right now, my multimedia hotkeys only work if i have Winamp window's selected.

My keyboard is a enhanced multimedia ps/2 keyboard and i have Windows Media Center ( i think it could be the problem ) Anyways, help would be appreciated because i miss listening to winamp when playing games .

Thx alot!

turn on global hotkeys in winamp preferences and set winamp to be controlled with whatever keys you want... even most multimedia keys should work fine.

preferences(ctrl+p)-->global hotkeys

Is there any other way beside hotkeys off and configure them in Windows to control winamp because i can't seem to have acces to configure them...

What's your keyboard model? Maybe you can find info on Google how to configure it, or someone around here maybe be familiar with it...

Also please confirm you enabled and configured global hotkey support in Winamp preferences.

I made some tests and even if i put Winamp as my default media player, my one-touch buttons only work when the window is in front. I tried the same thing with Itunes and Windows Media Player. Itunes has the same problem that Winamp but Windows Media Player can be controlled with the one-touch buttons even if it's not in front... weird.

Maybe something relative to Media Center?

Is there any programs that could make me control Winamp even when the window is not in front?

Maybe some other hotkey plugin will work for you, some are mentioned in the threads listed here:

Updating the keyboard drivers didn't help?

hey everybody,
i found this same issue and i found a solution... lol i made an account on here just to post this hoping i help

if u cant get global hotkeys to work, simply right click on ur .exe file (or shortcut it works too) click properties, then Compatibility tab, and check "Run as Administrator" then apply and close.

i found that if u are running a program (i.e. a game) that requires to be run as an admin and winamp doesnt require u to run as admin, winamp gets put in a "second priority" state so those keys will effect the currently opened program and not winamp. This is usually associated with Vista and even Windows 7 as they both require many applications to be run as admin

Hope it helps,
Blitz

Hi, I have problem with hotkeys in winamp, I'm writing in this topic because i didn't want to start another one with same topic name,
My problem is that when winamp is on taskbar and i popup winamp window i can't use hotkeys, coz they dont respond, but when I click with mouse on the winamp window hotkeys work fine this is troublesome because I want to use hotkeys without having to use my mouse to click on winamp because when i already have mouse in hand I can click pause/stop with it instead of using keyboard.
I was trying to use global hotkeys but it's more troublesome because then hotkeys respond even when winamp is on taksbar and I can't do anything woithout "mixing" my playlist by stopping, playing, pausing, playing next, playing previous for 20 times while trying to write something in comunicators window, or typing web adress in firefox. is there something that can be done about it or i have to use winamp 5.24 version in which hotkeys are working as they should ?
