Multimedia Keyboard Hotkey Mystery
First of all, let me apologise if this has been covered before - I've searched through the forums and this particular issue doesn't seem to have come up.
This concerns issues that may revolve around my soundcard and/or my keyboard. I have a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard. Each multimedia key has always worked regardless of the keyboard EXCEPT the volume controls. At first, everything was fine - you press volume down, the master volume goes down accordingly. Press volume up and it goes up. For some reason one day this stopped working. Annoying at first, but eventually I got over it. Then one day I noticed I was able to assign the volume keys on my keyboard to the global shortcuts on winamp. I press up, music goes up. Press down, music goes down. Essentially the feature had passed to the wav signal as opposed to the master volume which remained unresponsive. A few days ago, this feature too disappeared - coinciding with an upgrade to 5.24. Reverting back to 5.21 was no help. If there's any ideas about what could be causing this issue, it'd be a help. If it helps, I use XP, Winamp (obviously), my soundcard is a Terratec 6Fire and the keyboard is a standard Microsoft wireless job. Thanks. |

i have almost the same keyboard...
are you using "microsoft intelitype" software? it should have come with the keyboard, or can be downloaded... (microsoft.com, search for intelitype) if so, remove any volume hotkeys in winamp that are NOT set as Ctrl+Alt+Up or Ctrl+Alt+Down and in control panel, open the "keyboard" panel... there, on the "key settings" tab configure the "volume+/-/Mute" or other such key to control the sound on your computer... also check to see that at the top of the key settings tab, it says "wireless multimedia keyboard" leave the other winamp hotkeys(play, next, pause, stop...) on/as they are if they are working fine... the volume keys on microsoft keyboards (especially wireless ones) have alot of conflicts without intelitype, bad microsoft drivers, and bad coding are to blame... the default keyboard program was designed for basic, wired, microsoft keyboards, not extra buttons... |

I've never had any problems with the volume keys, but if the Play/Pause, Stop, Forward automagically open Windoze Media Player, you need to completely disable those keys in IntelliType, and add them to the WA global hotkeys. I have a Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000, and it works great with Winamp once configured right.

to clairify, if the play, next, previouse, ...ect keys are working, DO NOT!!! delete or alter their winamp keys... if you want the volume keys to work for system volume, follow the above instructions to set the volume keys in Intellitype and disable them in winamp |

Configuring WA with MS Wireless Natural Multimedia KB
I can't seem to get my keyboard, MS Wireless Natural Multimedia" working with WA. I've gone into the IntelliType settings and disabled the Play/Pause, Stop, Prev and Next buttons in the config screen but it still doesn't work. Any help would really be appreciated.
Thanks! .:. Kevin |

You tried 'everything' mentioned in previous posts above and it still doesn't work?
If so, then try these other MM Kybd fixes/plugins. Although JonnyMac already referenced the same links above, you may have missed it. |

OK, it was something in NVIDIA settings. I just went in to the Keyboard properties page and clicked the remove all button and that seems to have worked.
Thanks for the link! |
