winamp.exe remains in memory after closing application

I can't say with full shure that it is a bug, because I can't define precise circumstances when it happens. But I became often to notice, that the process winamp.exe remains after I exited Winamp (not moved to the tray) in list of all processes (by Ctrl+Alt+Del). I can say more: I have Auto-hiding main window of Winamp docked to the top and in such cases I can see that Winamp looks out from the top edge of screen, but it doesn't slide out when I lead mouse to it.

Have anyone noticed that?

ps: I have winamp 5.23 (I'm noticing this bug during several 5.xx versions) with Modern Skin

No, this just happens, when Winamp crashed.

When I close Winamp, the winamp.exe isn't running anymore and the taskmanager doesn't show any instance of Winamp.

Cannot reproduce. Also, make sure you are running the latest version (5.24) as older versions are not supported. But try a full uninstall and reinstall. If that doesn't work full system specs. (And I am sure someone will kindly move this out of the bug reports forum for you).

I am actually having the same problem. Every time I close winamp (v5.24 - Pro) the program remains active in the process menu as described by the original poster. This happens every time I open and close winamp, and on some instances it leaves 2 or 3 copies of the winamp.exe in the process menu.

As for third party programs, I do use Samurize, with the function that says what song, time, etc.. that is playing in winamp. However, even with this program closed and inactive, the problem still occurs. I do use the winamp agent that comes with winamp, but with that off the problem still exists.

The problem still occurs after a fresh install.

Edit: After checking the Event Viewer to post any errors, I noticed an error message repeating itself several times every 10 seconds:

" Unable to gain access to the WEB server thru the Service Manager

Source: Allaire Wsm "

After some research, it appeared this was being caused by Macromedia Coldfusion 5. After uninstalling that, the errors stopped coming. Also, for whatever reason, the problem with winamp ceased to exist. I cannot say why, how, or even if Coldfusion 5 had anything to do with the problem at hand, but whatever happened, the winamp problem is fixed now.

I will post again if the problem continues after a reboot or another day or something.

Well I don't know if this is going to be helpful at all or not but here goes nothin'...

Starting with the latest release of Winamp (Version 5.24), every time I close the program I get the following error message...
  • "The intruction at "0x01187b80" referenced memory at "0x1187b80". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the progam

I thought it might be the skin I was using or one of the plug-ins but nothing I change makes any difference.

I hope this was helpful and not redundant!

Thanks!
