Constant Buffering After Track Change

Hi all,

I've setup a jukebox style system over my LAN whereby people queue up tracks on a server running Winamp via the httpq plugin and a custom PHP script, then it's played back via the Shoutcast DSP to any clients listening in. This is a small LAN of about 20 people (although we've only had 5 listeners at once so far) and the stream is played at 128Kbps via a 100Mb network card.

Anyway, the stream works fine for the most part, but every now and again, usually when a track change occurs, some of the clients (all using Winamp) will start to buffer the track continuously. Basically the buffer bar fills in under a second, a short part of the track plays, and then the buffer is filled again. This repeats in rapid succession until the user presses play (or stop and play) on Winamp to force a reconnection and then everything works fine once more.

I've tried searching the forum but have found no similar issues and I know it's not a bandwidth issue considering the symptoms and the fact that it's a purely LAN based, private stream. Nor can I see any CPU or RAM issues on the server being used.

Has anybody seen this before and is there a fix?

Thanks in advance for any help. It is much appreciated.
