Radio Phone ins...

Hi everyone

I am just starting to look at the possibility of using Shoutcast to launch an internet radio station. One of the features of our station would be a phone in section of the show where callers would need to talk to each other.

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how we could go about doing this and where we could get the necessary equipment from? I am in the UK by the way!

Any help would be much appreciated!
Matt

That's a neat little device! That might be the answer, althought I think it could prove tricky allowing callers to speak to each other...

What sort of show are running if you don't mind me asking?

ouch $150 for that

The show I help with we use cell phone with the headset jack connected to one of the channels on our mixer, and also a speaker phone with a mic next to the speaker (not great sounding).

There are other devices that are designed to record phone calls when the hand set is 'off-hook', which you can also connect to a mixer channel. The draw back of those devices is they often hum because of the inpendance differences on the line.

If you sign up with skype (voice over IP), you can for-go external devices and use the PC as the phone and have winamp DSP setup in soundcard mode and that would intercept skypes audio as well, the callers would call your skype phone number (not available with the free accounts).

Have a good one.

Not neccasrly, what it does is it allows you to have people hear whatevers coming through the mixer to be heard by the caller and yet everyone can hear the caller. It's what talkshows use, so the host doesnt sound like hes having a phone convo, but they can play sound cuts and the caller can hear them
