Modern Skin Doesn't Show Up
Hello, I'm running winamp 5.3 with a fresh install and I cannot get the default modern skin to work. It opened up with the classic skin, I went to change the skin to modern and the window just disappeared, I switched it back to classic and it showed up. It doesn't crash on modern because the music is stil playing and I can switch back to classic mode by the little icon in the taskbar.
XP Pro Winamp 5.3 Fresh Install, Only default plugins and will fishers ipod plugin. |

Full install of what, the full of lite version of winamp?
only the pro/full/bundle versions of winamp support modern skins, if you've installed or upgraded with the lite version then you won't have modern skin support installed. If you did install any of the full packages, could you have unchecked modern skin support by accident? If you did install lite, then install again using one of the full packages. |

And if it's not any of the above, I guess there's always the chance that it's moved off screen somewhere. In which case, close Winamp, then delete studio.xnf (in the Winamp root folder).

I'm using the pro version and I've tried deleting the studio.xnf file while winamp was closed and still no luck. Classic version does work fine, though.

We'll probably need to see both a my_plugins_list.txt file and a hijackthis log to be able to help you any further. Info/Links here:

The only process I can see in your HJT log which might be interfering is Stardock Bootskin. I'm not familiar with said app, or what it does exactly, but is there an exclusion list in its config, where you can add Winamp?
Other than that, I'd suspect it to be one of your 3rd-party plugins to blame. Currently Playing To Textfile v0.4 [gen_cp2txt.dll] Streamripper For Winamp [gen_sripper.dll] Dynamic Library v1.03 [gen_dl.dll] Monkey's Audio Player v3.99 [in_APE.dll] iTunes Plugin v1.0ß [in_tunes.dll] Winamp iPod support v1.42 [ml_ipod.dll] Very unlikely to be any of the following, because they're part of the Winamp 5.3 Essentials Pack, and I've got them all installed myself: Find File On Disk v1.41 [gen_find_on_disk.dll] Lite'n Winamp Preferences v1.1 [gen_nopro.dll] Skins In Submenu v1.7 [gen_skinsubmenu.dll] Playlist Undo v0.5.3 [gen_undo.dll] ML Lite-n v1.0 [ml_lite_n.dll] Note that there's a newer version of Find File on Disk available (v1.5) http://nunzioweb.com/daz/releases.html#30/09/2006 |

I've turned off windows blinds and uninstalled the essentials pack and all 3rd party plugins, still no luck with the modern skin.

If a clean install of Winamp 5.3 Full (including separate Update Pack after - see sticky at top of this forum) doesn't fix it, then alas, I'm pretty much baffled.
