WInamp 5.2x doesn't play v small wav files
Hi Guys,
I'm having a miserable time with Winamp 5.24 although I believe you get the same results with other 5.x versions. I have a library of small sized wav file samples; typically under 8KB, they are seconds long but fail to play when executed from explorer. Winamp loads, the file is listed but it's almost as if Winamp chooses not to bother with small files. Please can someone help? James |

Upgrade to 5.3, 'cause older versions are not supported.
If this happens with 5.3 too, then attach an example .wav file, so I can try to reproduce this. It's just a standard cd quality wav (pcm, 16bit, 44.1KHz, stereo)
so there should be no problem playing it. At a guess, go to: Prefs > Plugins > Output > DirectSound Output > config: Buffering tab: Reduce "buffer-ahead on track change" value Note that this setting is required for gapless playback, default value = 500ms So what this means is that files which are approx/smaller than half a second are going to be totally skipped. Try reducing it to somewhere between 50 - 250 ms, and see if that helps. |

Almost
Hi,
I changed the buffer to 55ms and Winamp now plays small files. That's great, however, during play, it's impossible to interupt with the execution of another file. At best, the file appears in the playlist but never plays. Is it possible to quickly double-click and play different files in succession? James |
