Winamp Burner: Unable to create temporary file
Hi everybody
I'm unable to burn any CDs. Every time I want to start the process, the Winamp Burner window appears with the message 'Burning of Audio CD in Drive G: cancelled. Reason: Unable to create temporary file.' The error occurs if I want to burn .MP3 or .WAV files (I did not try any others). I'm using Winamp 5.3 Pro, Win98SE, CD-Burner LiteOn DVDRW SHW-16H5S. Thanks for every response! |

I'm encountering a similar problem. When I try and burn a CD, I get this error:
WINAMP caused an invalid page fault in module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff7a125. then a 2nd error appears: Burning of Audio CD in drive D: cancelled reason: unable to create temporary file I'm using Winamp v5.3 Pro on Win 98SE on a Dell PC (with LG CD-RW CED-8080B). 30 gb hard drive, 15 gb free any suggestions how to workaround this problem? |

What a bummer, as I just purchased WinAmp Pro for the sole purpose of using it for burning! Any way I can get a refund?

DJ Egg, thanks for that explanation.
Do you know whether any other Winamp limitations on Win98 SE are documented anywhere? (Admittedly, it is time for us Win98 "holdouts" to start thinking of moving to Win XP or Vista, sometime soon.) |

Well hopefully the bug can be fixed at some point - we shall see.
Other than CD Burning not working, as far as I know, the only other limitations are: No PlaysForSure Device support via pmp_p4s.dll mainly because p4s requires WinXP sp1 or higher. USB Device Support (pmp_usb) might not work too well on Win98 FE, if at all. Some Online Services might not load if using anything less than IE6 WMA/WMV Support might not work if Windows Media Player 9 or higher isn't installed. Some 3rd-party Modern Skins won't load if they require desktop alpha blending Some 3rd-party plugins require Win2k/XP or higher to work. |

Benski,
That is good news indeed, especially for those of us who still run 98SE until Vista is released. Fantastic! siebe83, Thanks very much for the link, and I have requested a refund. I will cancel that request immediately, due to Benski's good news. Ramona |
