Winamp Started Crashing And Freezing Computer

In the last 2 months winamp and other media players started to crash or freeze my computer randomly with an error in "in_mp3.dll" i have read a lot of topics and answers but none gave me the answer.
i do not have gen_nomad.dll i have both reinstalled windows and winamp several times both with and without prexidis and any portable music player support.
i used to run with 2 3rd party plugins: "mp3cue" and "jane nfo plugin" also uninstalled these but still got the error
its not on specific files either just randomly.
only hardware i changed in the 5 years i had this system is the graphics card (from geforce ti4200 to fx5500) never had a problem with winamp before in the 5 years i used it so i would be happy if anyone could tell me what it could be ? hardware fails maybe and how to fix ?
i also tried updating all drivers mobo,soundcard and downgrading the graphic card drivers to 66.93 but still without luck

You should post in tech support next time

Confirm, that you're running Winamp 5.31. What Windows version are you running?

Please post more infos, including a Hijackthis logfile.

Although it sounds like it could be hardware related (since it occurs with players other than just winamp), maybe a dxdiag log might show more info, plus any crash logs?

posted the dxdiag log quite a size hehe not sure how much of it i should provide just edit it out.

i also tried to get it crashing but it just freezes my computer and keep playing the same half second like scratched cds.

Edit: will logs from eventviewer do the trick ?

i should probaly add to info that the computer never crashes no matter how high load its on when using other programs as soon as i play mp3s it crashes.
dont know how much similarity they have but i dont have any problem playing videos with mp3 encoded audio.

tr3m0x Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Posts: 4	posted the dxdiag log quite a size hehe not sure how much of it i should provide just edit it out. i also tried to get it crashing but it just freezes my computer and keep playing the same half second like scratched cds. Edit: will logs from eventviewer do the trick ? Faulting application winamp.exe, version 5.3.1.979, faulting module in_mp3.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00016e6e. Faulting application winamp.exe, version 5.3.1.979, faulting module in_mp3.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0001c9e3. + more i should probaly add to info that the computer never crashes no matter how high load its on when using other programs as soon as i play mp3s it crashes. dont know how much similarity they have but i dont have any problem playing videos with mp3 encoded audio.
