winamp53_pro -.shn files hanging up

8 kilobyte primary memory cache
256 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 (build 2600)

winamp 53_pro

53_pro worked fine until there were some installs/uninstalls most notable installed utorrent then later uninstall azureus
hung up on shn files sometimes at the beginning, always between tracks. seems to be searching as bars in spectrum analyzer keeping rolling back and forth
flac files play fine
sometimes if play is hit several times the track will play
Identified Windows Media Format SDK KB902344 as corrupt with belarc advisor
reinstalled hotfix
winamp improved but still had same problem
complete uninstall reinstall winamp
deleted all registry components I could find
no improvement
complete uninstall
install513_pro no issues
unistall513/reinstall 53- same problem

just installed 531

same issues occurring

also monkey audio had been installed just prior to first instance of issue

uninstalled the plug-in and looked for all leftover files - found none

I just remembered this part

Winamp does not have native support for SHN files. The third party SHN plug-in would have to be updated by the respective developer/author. It is most likely you have the SHN plugin for Winamp 2/5 from etree. Other users have reported issues with the plug-in.
