Problem with Winamp 5.12 stalling when I r-click
Hello,
I have read through the forums and cannot find something similar, so here goes... I have been experiencing a weird... issue. when I use winamp 5.12 (which I love btw). If I am in the windows explorer, and I right click a file (has to be a file, not just anywhere) the display on winamp fully stalls. eventually my music will fully stop playing until I click away from the context menu. Also, when this happens, even my mouse responce to the context menu is stalled as well. This ONLY happens when winamp is running. here's what I have: Winamp 5.21 using a 2.xx skin (www.ultrashock.com's skin), Windows XP Pro AMD x64 3000+ (Oc'ed 200mhz) 2Gig of Corsair ram Asus Via chipset mobo (cannot remember the model) Creative SB Audigy 2 (running latest drivers) WD 120Gig SATA HDD ATi X800XT AIW 256 AGP 8x card (running latest Omega Drvr) Dual monitor setup, and usual preferals. I have checked for the gen_nomad.dll, it aint there. here is my plugins list : ============================== Installed Winamp plugin list Generated by 'One for Nunz v2.75' << Winamp Information >> Winamp.ini path is: C:\Program Files\Winamp\Winamp.ini Plugin directory is: C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins Visualisation directory is: C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins DSP directory is: C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins Skin directory is: D:\audio\Winamp_old\Skins Using Winamp version: 5.12 (Build 275) Current skin: ultrashock_winampskin.wsz << Input plugins >> Nullsoft CD plug-in (CDDB2) v3.12 [in_cdda.dll] Nullsoft DirectShow Decoder v0.97 [in_dshow.dll] Nullsoft LineIn plug-in v3.11 [in_linein.dll] Nullsoft MIDI player 3.09 [in_midi.dll] Nullsoft Module Decoder v2.2.12 (x86) [in_mod.dll] Nullsoft MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 Audio Decoder 3.4 [in_mp3.dll] Nullsoft MPEG-4 Audio Decoder v0.72 [in_mp4.dll] Nullsoft NSV Decoder v1.06 [in_nsv.dll] Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v1.43 [in_vorbis.dll] Nullsoft Waveform Decoder v2.06 [in_wave.dll] Nullsoft Windows Media Decoder 3.0 [in_wm.dll] << Output plugins >> Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in v2.1 [out_disk.dll] DirectSound output v2.42 (d) [out_ds.dll] [active] waveOut output v2.1 (d) [out_wave.dll] << Visualisation plugins >> Advanced Visualization Studio v2.81b [vis_avs.dll] MilkDrop 1.04c [vis_milk.dll] [active] Nullsoft Tiny Fullscreen (v2.06) [vis_nsfs.dll] << DSP plugins >> Nullsoft Signal Processing Studio DSP v0.36 [dsp_sps.dll] << General Purpose plugins >> Nullsoft Modern Skins Support v1.1 [gen_ff.dll] Nullsoft Global Hotkeys v1.3 [gen_hotkeys.dll] Jump To File Extra v0.96fg [gen_jumpex.dll] Nullsoft Winamp Library v2.2 [gen_ml.dll] One for Nunz v2.75 [gen_nunzio.dll] Nullsoft Tray Control v0.2 [gen_tray.dll] << Media Library plugins >> SHOUTcast Wire v1.02 [ml_wire.dll] ml_xpdxs v1.0.2 [ml_xpdxs.dll] << Encoder plugins >> [enc_aac.dll] Raw AAC v1.00 [enc_aacplus.dll] aacPlus Encoder v1.1 [enc_lame.dll] MP3 Encoder v1.21 [enc_mp4.dll] MP4 AAC v1.0 [enc_wma.dll] WMA Encoder v1.1 << Summary of installed plugins >> 11 Input plugins installed 3 Output plugins installed 3 Visualisation plugins installed 1 DSP plugin installed 6 General Purpose plugins installed 2 Media Library plugins installed 5 Encoder plugins installed Total: 31 plugins installed ================================================ and as for processes : Logitech G15 specific Apps: LGDCore.exe LCDMon.exe LCDClock.exe Antivirus (trend micro): pccguide.exe Dual Monitor stuff: Ultramon.exe UltramonTaskbar.exe generic stuff: explorer.exe I have and can reproduce the same issue with all non- essential services stoped. Winamp 5.12 is old and unsupported. Try updating to 5.31 and I would suggest a full uninstall > reinstall (AKA clean install) of Winamp.
If problems continue please provide a HjT log. |

no go ....
Hello,
ok, took your suggestion, completely un-installed winamp (deleted the directory even), re-installed the newest version. Problem still happens. So I have attached the Hjt.txt file. If you need any other info, let me know. I'll be more then happy to dig up any info you require to help resolve this. spyrule |

windows has a bug that will use 100% cpu resources while the right click context menu is open.
i can reproduce with any file format. the cpu hogging that explorer has, is what makes winamp go like that. i'm sure many other programs have similar problems. |

hey thanks,
your absolutely right. I never noticed before. I don't ever play video's and r-click anything, so that's the only time I would have noticed it. Anybody know if their is a solution for this bug ? Thanks a ton Rocker... spyrule. |

found a temporary fix for the 100% usage problem :
Start the Control Panel Display applet. Select the Appearance tab. Click Effects, then clear the "Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips" check box. Click OK to close all dialog boxes. Fixed the problem for me! spyrule |

I have not noticed that until this thread. Unchecking "Use the following transition effect for menus and tooltips" does fix the issue for me also. Thanks spyrule and Rocker.
