Here's a oldie but a goodie.

Did some extensive browsing and searching of these and other threads before decided to post, because I know how much of a nuance it can be to have to answer the same questions over and over again.

I promise to make this one as original as possible.

I've been a part WNMR (Night Majik Radio) for quite some time now, about 9 years in total, and I've never ran into this problem before. As many of you have prescribed, I've uninstalled Winamp, Shoutcast DSP, and SC_Serv and have reinstalled them.

However, my delima is this: I currently cannot connect to SC_Serv. Sounds the same as all the others I know, let me explain myself.

At first, I simply configured the server the way we always have. The only item I changed was max user, I went from 320 to 1500 because we're using a dedicated computer with a 50 and 50 connection (50mbps up and 50mpbs down).

I opened up SC_Serv, watched as everything logged and everything appears to be okay, as I'm used to seeing it anyway. I enter my IP address and required information into the DSP and when I press CONNECT it flashes to connecting and then flashes back to not connected.

"OKAY" I say to myself. So I uninstall everything again and this time, when I install, I leave EVERYTHING (and I mean everything) at the default. I run it again, and once again, I cannot connect to the server. What's going on?

I've gone as far as to bypass our router and now I'm running directly at to the modem. I also do not have any firewalls running on this machine, which I don't like, but I cannot seem to connect to SC_Serv.

Keep in mind, the server and the DSP are running on the same machine, so it's not like I've done anything differently than I've always done it. Should I downgrade my Winamp to see if that works? Because it worked before I jumped to 5, but that's just me trying to pass the blame to someone. I don't know, if anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much,

If this server is running on linux or windows 2000, well that doesn't surprise mean. The total number of sockets that can be open often is limited by the kernel . in windows I have seen limits (don't argue with me kids..), that at 250 tcp connections the threading get jacked up and more connections fail.

No without seeing what you have setup I am wondering if you have the port somehow blocked.

From the command prompt with sc_serv running type the following:

netstat -an |grep XX

Windows:
netstat -an |find "XX"

change XX to the first two numbers of your shoutcast server port. e.g if you are using tcp port 8000, then enter 80

you should have your IP address listed and the status of LISTENING OR ESTABLISHED. Bear in mind that ESTABLISHED means something is all ready connected.

Take care.
