Problem with DNAS server

Hi. I'm having a problem with my DNAS server (i think).

Im able to listen to my broadcast and load the shoutcast page via the address "http://172.159.163.129:8000/" but people on other computers get a page error message and within WinAmp they get a "timed out" message.

I have recently contacted NetGear so they could tell me how to setup port forwarding on my DG834G router which i have done sucessfully but still i have this problem.

Anyway make sure your only playing mp3s as the DSP wont support anything else in winamp mode.

I just stopped broadcasting on the Shoutcast plugin a coupld of times and then restarted the broadcast...cant remember why. lol! But i made sure it was broadcasting on the tests i done.

Well your server log looks pretty normal to me... Could you post the URL to the stream?

The IP i stream via changes every time i log on AOL and have just recently had to restart my PC. Last time i was able to load the page, i got my IP address from my McAfee Firewall (it shows me my IP at the bottom of the window). Ive just started up the radio broadcasting again for you to have a look and took the IP from McAfee but now thats not working either...the page doesnt respond.

But here is my stream URL if i was to go by the one from McAfee http://192.168.0.4:8000
And if i was to go by www.whatismyip.com (which never seems to work) it is http://195.93.21.67:8000

Sorry if i just completely complicated things. I used to broadcast when i didnt have a wireless connection and it used to be so much easier...this connection seems to be confusing me.

Oh and by the way, the radio is broadcasting my end. I have it on a constant repeated playlist and will keep it on so it can be checked. :-)

'http://192.168.0.4:8000' is your local IP address, your friends wont be able to listen using this.

'http://195.93.21.67:8000' would be your external IP address - however, I cannot access a server on this address.

I'm guessing you haven't forwarded your port correctly, if you can't access the black DNAS status page using your external IP - then something aint right.

That does remind me actually...i may have set up my port forwarding incorrectly...i did get a bit stuck on what to enter into my NetGear router setting when it asked for my LAN server IP address. I entered "192.168.0.4". Would this be correct or could this be where im wrong?

Wow...this is an old one. lol! I never got any solution to this tho...still haven't...it's doing my head in. lol! So if you ever find a solution (i'll keep an eye on the topic), give me a shout please mate. I'll do the same for you.

In your Netgear router admin area - go to Services -

1) Add custom service
2) Call it shoutcast or something similar
3) set type to UDP/TCP
4) Start port - set to the broadcast port you are using (i.e. 8000 in your case)
5) Finish port - set to 8001
6) Press Apply

7) Now go to Firewall rules
8) On outbound services press Add
9) Select Shoutcast from the service drop down menu
10) Set action to Allows Always
11) Set LAN users to ANY
12) Set WAN users to ANY
13) Set log to never
14) Press Apply

correct me if I'm wrong, I believe the only service names you can have for shoutcast on any router are SCast1, SCast2, SCast3, and so on
