media library error

Whenever I try to play or enqeue an MP3 album or artist from "Local Media" in media library, I get a "Winamp needs to close" popup message with the following detail:

AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.3.2.1003 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2945 Offset: 00012a5b

Playing individual files seems to work fine. This has been happening ever since I upgraded to version5.32 from version 5.2x. I did a clean install, with no plug-ins, trying both "shared settings" and "individual user" settings. It also happens for both administrative and reduced privelege users. Nothing seems to make a difference. Here are my system details:

-PC or Motherboard make/model - Asus A7N8X2.0
-CPU & RAM - AMD Athlon 2.2 mhz / 2GB ram
-Sound card or chip - NForce2
-Videocard - ATI 9600
-Windows OS - WinXP sp2
-DirectX version - 9.0c
-Winamp version - 5.32 -bundle
-Whether you chose 'separate' or 'shared' user settings on the multi-user page - tried both
