winamp.exe they are not in a library.

you can just change the icon without winamp.(you might need to disable winamp agent first)
my computer-->tools-->folder options

under the file types tab
select the file extension-->advanced-->file icon.

be advised that its against winamp's EULA to modify any of winamp's code. so if you decide to put your modified winamp.exe on the internet, you are liable for prosecution.

Thanks, but i have tried that already. Even changed .mpfile icon in regedit and even with other software. But same thing happend later. FileIcons changed back to those they were before.
So i want to change the winamp icon library becuase all other alternatives dont hold long. Regardless if it is a clean & fresh XP and/or winamp installation. And even with winamp as only player associated to the audiofiles i want to change icons for. They changed back, thats why i want to change winamp icons .dll file.
Alternatvie, somehow add icons to winamps iconcollection.

I dont want to break any laws.
Only change fileicons "permanently"
And im not gonna put any winampfiles on the internet at all. Neither modified or nonmodified!

did you disable winamp agent? (winampa.exe) you'll need to disable this first. or it will keep fixing the registry.

To DJ Egg
Those links are intressting, found some new things to try there, i will have to try them and wait weeks to see if the files keep their new icons or if they change back.
I will anwser this topic next year and tell if it worked and what way i tried.
