Winamp crashes on startup

I got a problem with winamp. It crashes when i'm trying to load it.
I upgraded winamp to version 5.32. And from then of, it start crashing now and then. Especially when I did a right-mouse-click-action on an album in the audio-view of the media library. Usaully it crashed when I wanted to calculate the replay-gain. But just today it crashed after I right-clicked a song to send it to predixis music magic.

Thinking of it now, winamp crashes here after sending a song/album to anything.

Anyway, it did crash, and now it won't load. When it's starting up, I see the main window, the playlist, albumart (plugin), leolyrics (plugin). In other words, everything except the media library. And then it crashes. So proberly it's because of the media library starting up. No winamp error message, so I can't give some very diffecult figures for the experts. Just the common windows message: That there is a fault in winamp, and it musted be closed, and that they're very sorry for me.

Anyone else with this problem? Or anyone know how it must be fixed?
Didn't see a same thread on the forum. Otherwise, I'm sorry.

Some specs:
Windows XP
AMD Sempron 2800+
2.01 Ghz
512MB

Thanx

Hm... nobody?
I tried to install winamp 5.3 again, but it made no difference.

Is there a way to start winamp without the media library or maybe with just the main player window? That is, because I think it's a problem with the media library view. But I dunno.

Edit
This is the header of the windows error message:

AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.3.2.1003 ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2945 Offset: 00012a5b

system specs

When you reinstalled, did you do a clean install?

You can disable the Media Library by renaming gen_ml.dll (in C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins) to gen_ml.off while Winamp is closed.
If you want to know which ML component is causing the crash you can try disabling any of the ml_*.dll subplugins.

Eg.
ml_disc (CD Ripping & Burning)
ml_pmp (Portable Media Player support)
ml_xpdxs (Predixis MusicMagic)

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

Thank you very much for helping me, while I didn't provide all the information. I'll post more system info now. I prefer to try it without a clean install, because I really don't want to lose my playcounts. And because I, as one of the few, love predixis, and don't want to lose all it's fingerprints.

When I disabled the ML, in the way you suggested, winamp worked fine! So thanks!
If I enable it again, winamp will start up. So that's better then before. But as soon as I play a song it crashes again. I played around with the sub-dll's as you suggested and I found out that nothing helps but to disable ml_local.dll. If I disable that one and pick a song from a playlist it works fine. It isn't even a problem to send a song to predixis (because that's when all the problems started).

Another strange thing, I just wrote the winamp startup without an error after I enabled gen_ml.dll again (as long as I don't play a song). But I just found out that it does crash If I start winamp (with all dll's on) after I closed it with the 'predixis-view'.
I thougt that the maybe predixis is the problem, but disabling ml_xpdxs.dll doesn't solve it.

I hope this will clear some thing up,
Please tell me if more information is neccessery,
And sorry for my English.

Thanks

Strange. I didn't notice anything peculiar in your log.

Errors in kernel32.dll aren't reported very often, so it's not like there's one simple solution to the issue...

You said you have some third-party plugins installed. Does the issue occur if you disable those? Do you have other plugins installed except for the ones you mentioned in your first post?

It indeed sounds like an issue with the Media Library, maybe with the ML database. If you move main.dat & main.idx (ML database files) out of the Plugins\ml folder while Winamp is closed, does the issue persist?

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

Hey, thanks again.

I tried to turn several dll's off. And I uninstalled some plugins a had installed lately and some I didn't use anyway. Maybe one of them couldn't handle the new winamp version.
After trying a lot, I removed winamp essentials and two cover-plugins. This seems to do the trick.

Just yet I turned every single dll back on, and winamp keeps running fine. So the problem was proberly one of the cover-plugins (showcover & audiocover), because if it would be the essentials it would be a more known issue. And well, I still can use coverart-plugin without any problems, so I didn't really needed them anyway.

Thanks Siebe (Dutch btw?) for your help. It seems to be running fine now. It took some time but I'm glad it's working again, because I hated the time I had to use wmp .

Edit:
Just want to confirm winamp essential wasn't causing any problems. I installed it back on, and the problem is still solved.

Graag gedaan!

Yup, could be some incompatibility issue with the newer version then... Thanks for the feedback.
