Cannot play mp3

I am having problems playing some mp3. When I open them in winamp, the name of the file appears in the playing list but not the length of the file. And of course it doesn't play the mp3 file. In fact it waits for 2 or 3 seconds before jumping to the next song in the list.
It happens to me too often and with too many mp3 files as to
consider this a problem.
I'd like some of you to tell me why this can be happening, and how could I work it out.
Could it be because of the lack of some codecs???
Thanks for your time and experience.

Do those files play in other media players? (e.g. Windows Media Player)

You could upload one of these files to sendspace.com and post the link here, so we can try it as well.

Also could you post a my_plugins_list?

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.
