db level and clipping

My playlist has 2,000 tracks with widely varying db levels from 80 to 100. So, I am going to run them through mp3Gain. I chose the 93db level, because Live365 uses this. However, mp3Gain wants me to elect "to clip or not to clip." I am not sure whether to: use mp3Gain's 89db default level, use Live365's 93db level and clip, or use Live365's 93db level and not clip. Any recommendations?

Clipping means distorsion which you probably want to avoid.
Normally in the broadcast world we use hardware like levelers to compensate those differences in volumes.
Nowadays there is also a lot of processing software who can do that job for you.

I listened to a few clipped tracks as a test, but did not notice any of the distortion mp3Gain warned about. When I opt out of clipping, some tracks are only boosted to 89db, which is short of my goal, 93db.

You may not noitce anything but lots of clipping has been shown to cause listener fatigue over time.
