Auto check sc_trans.log activity

Hi,

We are using sc_trans (main radio) on a linux system to stream to a seperate shoutcast server. It provides music for listeners when no dj shows are in progress. The dj's kick the main radio during there show times via the web interface admin.

The problem we are running into is that sc_trans continues to attempt to connect every 10 sec for a 1/2 hour, and then it stops attempting to connect and there is no more activity in the log. At least that is what the sc_trans.log is telling me. The process is still running, but not attempting to connect to the server. The dj shows run between 3 and 4 hours, so the main radio is not connecting back when the shows are done.

Is there some way of monitoring the log activity, and if activity stops, restarting the sc_trans process automatically? I would assume it would be a cron job, but I am unsure of how to set it up to check for activity on the log?

Thank you,
