Backup: Which files?

Hi,

Which files do I have to backup to keep my Media Library Settings?
Basically the only things I'd like to keep are the Play Count, Played Last and the Rating. I use the Media Library only for my Music files and they're all in one folder sorted by subfolders. Also I use only the Media Library view because it is very concise.

I hope it's not too difficult to make a backup and have all the same settings on a new installation.

Basically, winamp\plugins\gen_ml.ini is the ml config file,
and winamp\plugins\ml folder is the ml database.

Thank you very much, that just leaves two questions:

Should I ever change the path of my music files I can adjust that path in one of the xml files and my settings will still be there. Is that correct?

If I rate a file in Winamp, is it written as ID3 Tag into the file itself or just saved in the database?

Alas, the ml database file (main.dat) contains binary data and is therefore not humanly editable. You might be able to use a binary/hex editor (I think there's more info in one of those faq links).

Ratings are written to the database only, not the tags.
Again, there's further tips available via the above links.

You're right, those problems have been discussed in several threads and I hope that Nullsoft is taking care of this soon. How can it be that I can't change the paths to my files without losing all statistics, that seems more of a problem from 1995 than 2006.
