Winamp 5.32 freezes and won't shutdown
Soory if this thread has been posted already, haven't had time to trawl through all forum issues.
Latest issue clean installed (not upgraded) and seems to work fine when you initially load audio CD or MP3 files from hard drive, however, when you try to add new files after the initial load from startup then winamp stops, freezes and remains active on the toolbar but is unresponsive to any attempt to shutdown. Any one else experienced similar issues? |

no other people have not experienced these issues.
what file formats are your trying to play? mp3? are the files corrupted? do they play in other players? just a note. third party plugins are not supported here. |

At the moment - playing audio CD in DVD+RW Drive. Have experienced similar problem with MP3 files from hard drive. All files are clean and play perfectly in Windows Media Player. So do audio CD's in fact. When I start up winamp everything is ok - I can add files to the playlist editor and play normally. When I remove these files or attempt to add different files then winamp freezes in stopped mode and remains unresponsive but active on the taskbar - unable to shutdown in fact. I have to restart windows to clear. I can boot up another winamp executable again however, so I have two active players in effect but the same happens to the second player if I attempt to remove and then add further files. Seems I can only load files once to winamp and any further update of extra files causes freezing.
Very strange - used winamp for years without this problem. Only happened since I upgraded to 5.32. |

I have the same problem, or a simlular.
It freezes most times when I even try to open it. I really hoped, it wouldnt happen, but AOL really finaly did screw WinAmp up. For the time beeing I will be using QMP, not that it matters for anyone else, just the fact that I dont think that WinAmp is the best player anymore. I suppse it is still better than iTunes and Windows Media Player, but even a chimp could make something better, plugin support and so on. I really hope AOL pull their act together. WinAmp is starting to suck! |

yes - such a shame. I'm tempted to reload 5.3 but there's no support for it!
I'm now using Windows XP Pro as opposed to Home Edition previously - wonder if this is acting suspiciously. Thumbs down to AOL! |
