Hello, this is my first post here.

Anyhoo, when I load some of my songs up to the playlist, the length of the song isn't read somehow, so it's just blank. This hasn't happened to me before on older versions of WinAmps, though (I haven't actually tried it on older versions 'cause I don't have their setup files anymore). The file plays, but I can't get the remaining time to show up in the player because it doesn't know the tracks length.

I tried re-encoding the file by using Cool Edit, opening the old file, and saving it as a new file. The time loads after that. Could it be the encoding that's screwing things up? Is there a way to fix it? Help~

EDIT: Forgot to mention something. ><

i think it happens occaisionally on some MP3s that are VBR (variable bitrate) encoded, as i have a couple of MP3s that do that myself.

Have you tried re-encoding the song in a non-VBR setting (assuming it is VBR'ed in the first) and seeing what happens?

Just a thought and my $0.02 (tax free).

Actually, this happens to me quite a bit. About half the time when I load a file or group of files, the first one will not have a time. It will play just fine, but no play time will appear in the playlist. I have to double click it in the playlist to get the time to appear. Very annoying.

I've had this problem with both VBR and constant bit rate files. Strange how it isn't repeatable with files. Just happens at random.

I was thinking neither it was encoded weird or it was the VBR thing. Thanks guys.

I've got a few songs to re-encode now. 'Scuse me... -_-
