Does Winamp Write the song info to the files?

Hey everyone,
Im looking at getting winamp pro as with WMP10 when i tagged all my files then lost the database because it got corrupted or something all my songs were back to being all messed up!
Im not even going to go near itunes as it wont talk with my creative most likely.

My question is, does winamp write the song info when i change it TO the files or does it just have some lame libary database somewhere?

One other question, If i sync with my creative Zen Micro with the pre MTP firmware (Winamp compatible) will the ID3 tags come up?

Cheers
Julius

I thought WMP10 wrote information to the mp3... oh well.

Yes, winamp writes to the mp3. You dont need pro (unless you plan to rip/burn CDs)

Can I suggest mp3tag to edit your tags. short learning curve, small, and lightweight mass tag editing program.

Though if you need automatic tag updates such as wmp, that is rare.

Dont know about your second Q.

Ive installed winamp, and i can edit the files easily in it, there are only a few albums with screwed up tags.

One wierd thing is some songs come up in my libary as having no track length but they still play however i cant copy them onto my Zen, it says Error.

I have 15gb of mp3's so the size of my collection might mess with it i guess.

no, your library size will not break the length of a few of your tracks.

I believe the below is the current/best way to fix things

More on VBRfix and ID3v2 tagging here.
Please try the above to repair those tracks without track length.

//Where is Nunz btw? anyone?
