Can you rip variable bit rate MP3s with $20 Pro Verision?

I am thinking about buying WinAmp Pro as it syncs nicely with my Creative Zen Micro. However, I usually rip MP3s at variable bit rate (low of 192k, high of 256k). Can Pro rip VBR-MP3's? What codec does it use -- LAME?

Yup, Pro can rip VBR MP3 files. Winamp uses LAME 3.97.
