I found one web page that talked about this subject. Whenever I have winamp on the desktop and am listening to an MP3 if I adjust volume EQ or ANYTNING that is within the winamp GUI the music distorts and sounds excrusiating. What is causing this? Just an average PS/2 mouse nothing fancy, No fancy cursers no trails etc....

I get the same sort of high pitch distortion when playing mp3 files on v2.72
but i found that it occurs because of my DSL modem my DSL modem is connected to s USB port and when i remove it the distortion goes away. i have used other programs to play mp3s when the modem is connected and they played back properly without any distortion. not sure if this will help your mouse over problem it the eq but i saw that you were also using DSL so it might help |

Well, first thing's first... havingas good a computer as you do, I'm sure you shouldn't have much trouble following instructions, as you must have at least half a brain... snicker snicker... no offense. When you start your computer up next time, go into the BIOS and make sure the soundcard doesn't share its IRQ with anything else.

If this problem only occurs with Winamp & NO other software:
Winamp Prefs -> Display : uncheck "Use Winamp styled cursors" If this still doesn't work, try disabling other options in this section. You should be okay to leave some enabled, eg. Show numbers in playlist, etc. If the problem still persists: Have you installed any 3rd party plugins? (General Purpose -OR- DSP/FX) If so, maybe one of these are causing the problem. You can also look in System Control Panel -> Device Manager to see if any Resource Conflicts are listed. If so, do as NeoRenegade suggests . . . only if you understand BIOS/CMOS settings. Otherwise get a qualified technician to take a look 4u. Other possible causes : Videocard, Soundcard, or Mouse drivers . . . check to see if you have the latest versions of each. ps. You forgot "Windows OS" in your sys specs. I'm assuming it's Win2k or WinME . . . ? |
