papa's got a brand new ride

Well, it's taken a long time to be able to do this, but here it is.
It's my new 2007 Jeep Liberty 4x4.
Drove it off the lot with 8 miles on it.

Solid black body, 16" aluminum wheels

Eventually, I'm gonna get it pinstriped

My offical one of a kind state licensed tag

Leather wrapped steering wheel, 4 speed automatic w OD,
AM/FM/CD with 4 main speakers and 2 tweeters
(new sound system coming soon to replace the factory one)

Command-Trac, shift-on-the-fly 4 wheel drive

3.7L V6, 210 HP, Rack and Pinion Steering,
Anti Lock 4 wheel disc brakes

bah ... hate to say it, but your Jeep does not look right.

No Jeep looks good until there is mud and dirt all over it

I know someone who bought a 2007 (traded her 2006 in on it) and she loves it.
Pretty damn nice and I really love the 3 plate. How did you score that?

The state of Oklahoma has officially licensed NASCAR plates.
When they were first offered, they let the public bid
on the plate and number of their choice, for a month.
I was high bidder on the "3" plate.
It was nail bitting time at the end though,
because there were allot of people bidding on it too.

That looks like an automatic transmission to me.

Let us know how well it does off-road (with pictures). And definitely, the 3 license plate is cash.

Yeah, you must put some dirt on it to be a real Jeep.

Last I checked (a while ago), they were using Infinity sound systems. It would take an enormous amount of money to buy and install something that beats Infinity sound quality.

Nice buy though, I hope it gives you plenty of fun, safe, and reliable driving!

P.S. Don't forget the dirt. If I can do it, then you can too!

Thanks swingdjted.
For a factory stereo, I was surprised at how good it sounds.
And this isn't my first 4x4.
I've owned a couple of others before, so I know about going off road.
But this is the first Jeep I've owned, so I can't wait
to go trail riding in it and see what it'll do.
First weekend I can, I'm gone

The leg room looks damned cramped. It oddly gives me nightmare flashbacks of a Chevy S10.

My opinion is to get something you like and keep it nearly forever. I don't see losing the camry or tundra for a very long time if I can avoid trouble.

If you like the eclipse, make it to be something you can hold on to. It's a lot better than something that you might not be as attached to.

Nice prefer cars myself though have had couple of Land Rovers. Had one once with what was known as a 'Forest Box' in it. Absolutely no high end - top speed in high box was like 30-40mph but man could that thing pull stuff in the low box which was what it was designed for essentially... low end torque was of the scale!

Nice color as well - pin striping would spoil it....

Hey Missy, thank you so much. Miss you round here, my dear!

@ Omega X:
Actually it has plenty of leg room, the pictures really don't do it justice.
I used to have a Chevy S-10 4x4.
The Jeep rides better, drives better and has more power.
I'm not sure about the 4 wheel yet, since I've haven't gone off road.
But the Chevy's 4 wheel system is gonna be hard to beat.
We'll see.

@ Smeggle:
Pinstripping is just a thought at this point.
I'm gonna give that plenty of time to think about.

@ gaekwad2:
Ok, you got me. I confess.
I'm not a Yugo kind of guy
It's getting 19mpg here in town.

Hey Widdykats....Spike loves to sit on it and in it.
Every morning I go out and there's little bitty cat paws
all over the hood and the roof

The seats in the Liberties are the most rock-hard and uncomfortable I've ever sat in a car. But other than that, ('cept maybe for the tweeter positioning ).

This is a sig of some nature.

If one knows the 3 reference, the pinstripe idea would be perfect on that ride, if done right.

Bingo ElChevelle!
We're on the same page it seems.

Thanks psycho_maniac.
It had to be black for obvious reasons.
When it's clean, it looks like a mirror.
The problem with black though, is keeping it clean.
But I consider that a labor of love.

Psythik, I'd have to agree on both to an extent.
The seats are harder than the S-10 I had,
but not to the point where I'm uncomfortable at all.
And the tweeter location is not exactly optimum,
but I can change that when I put in a new system.
But like I said, for a factory system, it's sounds surprisingly good.

Not mine, but I have done something very similar to this ... ayway, submerge yours in its element!

mine was harlet blue and went fishing like this one. I get her in a little too deep. She gave up on me and my buddy had to use his tow-cable to pull my arse out. Then I bought a snorkel. Fun!

I used to do that in my S-10, fc*uk.
It had the complete off-road package under it.
Got stuck and had to get pulled out a few times too.

If I pinstripe it beanboy89, I'm thinking of using a combination of red and gray,
or maybe just red. I dunno right now
Time will tell.

Something about the Liberties that just don't make them Jeeps to me...I guess because it doesn't have that "ass-kicker" attitude the Wrangler or Commander have, but it makes more practical sense for an everyday driver, I suppose...

My dad used to have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler, and while that thing was fun, it sucked for everyday use...The backseat was so cramped, there was no cargo room, wind buffeting from the soft top was a bit annoying (It would probably be different with a hard top, but still no batter than a Jeep with a fixed roof), and other things...All the problems seemed to be solved on the new 2007 Wranglers with the addition of serveral more inches to the wheelbase and the option for an extra set of doors, but I'm sure the wind buffeting is still there (Can't be helped, since Jeeps have to inheret bardyard aerodynamics, or else it isn't a Jeep )...

One word of advice; Don't overestimate your Jeep...They have potential, but not in stock form with street tires...My dad would constantly take his Wrangler out off-roading and came across very few obsticles, even in it's stock form, but it was easily disabled once by a mudpuddle no deeper than my calves, and not even 4WD would get it out...It had to be pulled out (By my uncle's Honda Passport; Embarassing )...

Damn that thing got muddy...

Yeah, make sure someone else is there in case he's gotta get you out, and make sure you're there if he gets stuck. Personally, I have a beat-up 1952 8N Ford farm tractor that can get me out if need be when I'm running around the woods at home.

A set of cheap old rusty steel rims with some cheap mud tires could be a plus if you just want to do a few days of off-roading, then easily switch back to street rims and tires. I did this with my old '91 toyota 4X4, but have yet to do it with the tundra.

Another thing that helps is that unless you're a die-hard off-roader, don't stray too far from civilization...Luckily, the place where we got stuck at was only a 15-30 minute walk from home (Took a little longer because we bought a DVD player and some other stuff that day ), even though it was relativly deep into this small woodland area the city was clearing for development...

Thing is.....there are ingenious ways to get out of being stuck.
We were 4 wheeling in Wyoming once and got stuck in a spring runoff mudbog. The driver/host handed me a shovel and said, "Dig a 1' X 3' hole right here" (about 50 feet in front of the stuck Cherokee). There was nothing within reach of the winch, so I was like "WTF?"
We dug the hole, he inserted his spare tire into it standing vertical, stuck the winch cable through the center and wrapped it around the lug wrench. Unbelievably, the spare held it's ground and pulled us right out.
He had read up on all kinds of simple exit articles in the 4 wheelin' magazines and had his wits about him. I felt safe everywhere we went that weekend up until the fishtail maneuver my roommate pulled while drivng that sent us ballistic into the air straight up nearly 20 feet and landing perfectly on the tires after hitting a ditch sideways.
Unbelievable, yet.......true.

Yeah. That's a neat trick if you haven't got anything to winch against. On sand, a big ass sand anchor for a boat can get you out too. People all wondering why I had a boat anchor in the back of my truck

I can contrast your story with a friend of mine who got stuck on a logging road. He got the rig all hooked up and ready to winch out of a rut. Then a log truck hit it and shoved it a couple miles down the road.

No longer a problem.
