True random play?

with my music collection size on the rise (1803 and counting) I find taht I'm using shuffle more often. The only thing is that is keeps repeating itself. I dont mean the same songs, but it will either only skip like 100 ahead or hit the same songs over a hour or so. I have changed the baar in prefrences to the highest setting, and still no effect. Anyplugins or something to help with random play? Thanks

you're right... but it would be possible for someone to program the shuffle not to repeat itself. All that would need to be done is to have the ID3 tags track how many times a song is played, and don't play those songs again. If i had the programming knowledge to do so i would myself >_<

That aside...
You want "true" randomization?
Then don't "shuffle".
"Randomize" instead...

While the Playlist Editor is in focus, click the "Misc" button --> "Sort List" --> Randomize List

When Randomizing, nothing will ever be repeated, as would happen in Shuffle mode (luck of the draw).

Yep... I "resurfaced" earlier today from the "abyss", due to a MAJOR server problem that was effecting both myself, and Winamp devs Darren Owen and Jonas Sandman, here in this thread.

Thank you so much, Nunz. I've had WinAmp forever and never really looked at that MISC button. After all this time I didn't even see it anymore. I've been hating the shuffle function for years, being a guy who makes tons of very long playlists by genre and mood. I've been using this Randomize feature for the last few hours, since reading your message, and it answers all the problems. You made my day. Thanks.
