5.33 Pro buffering problem

Hello all,

Whenever I listen to MP3s, WMAs, or even OGGs with Winamp, I continually have buffering problems. I've sat the buffering length to 6173 ms, prebuffer to 999ms, and buffer-ahead to 200 on DirectSound 2.46, but I still receive problems when playing music.

Please help!

There seems to be two places in preferences that control how much of a stream is buffered. The first place is the Input plugin for MPEG/mp3. If you look at the config for that, increase the buffer size from 64K to a larger number such as 1024 or 2048 (meaning 1MB or 2MB). Also look at the output plugin (I use direct sound one). There is a setting there for buffer length which defaults to 2000ms. I increased to max at 20000ms. Playing with these two config options seems to help. Hope that helps others
