soft and constant "shhh" sound in the background

As mentioned in the title of this topic, whenever I happen to play a song in Winamp (and I mean ANY song),there's always a slight constant "shhh" sound in the background. This does not happen in Windows Media Player so I suppose I simply don't have an option enabled or something...

This isn't the greatest of problems, yet whenever I pump up the volume it becomes especially obvious and somewhat destroys the fluid nature of some songs.

Try these DirectSound output tweaks.

If no luck, more info (read this!) would be useful.
