ok, im running an AMD athlon 64x2 (2.2 ghz processors) with a gig of ram and Windows Vista Home Premium. im running DirectX 10 and I have a clean install and havent installed any extra plugins. my winamp version is 5.33 and i believe i downloaded the full package (not Pro, although i would really like to have it). After playing the Eragon DVD with Windows media player 11, the sound stopped working on winamp. the sound on the rest of my system still works just fine, but winamp has stopped making any noise. i have checked the forum for related posts and this is the only one ive come across so far, i figured i would give it a shot. i checked my sound outputs and believe them to be working properly (but if you feel i am wrong please tell me, i am at a loss and unable to solve this issue) My issue isnt just CDs though, all the sound has stopped working. no MP3s, shoutcast or other online audio services work, but on any other media player i have no such issues. i could use a bit of assistance here as well.
*edit- also, i have a realtek HD 7.1 surround sound card, and the output for winamp is set to Directsound output v2.46. when i play any media in winamp, i get bars on the equalizer visualization and buffer info (when i open the configure screen for direct sound) but absolutely no sound. and im not sure if it matters, but i have installed one skin- MMD3. all the drivers are ok and up to date on my machine, and i checked for operator errors but as i still get sound from everything else i dont see it being something hardware related (meaning that yes, my volume is turned up on everything lol)

well i'm not sure how, but i fixed the issue i was having. all i did was change the direct sound output to Wave sound output and then back to Directsound output v2.46 and the sound started working again. im guessing that switching outputs reset whatever was messed up with my directsound, so i guess theres no need to reply to this, unless this somehow doesnt help someone that posted this some...goodness...7 years ago...lol
