-Winamp 5.35 - clean install
-System specs (Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz, 2GB) -Windows XP SP2 -DirectX 9.0c Steps to reproduce: 1. Set these prererences: Show Winamp in only System tray; Check "Disable always on top while fullscreen applications are focused". 2. Close all Winamp windows, except Main Window. 3. Enable Always on Top option. 4. Open Notepad and maximized it. 5. Open some video with Windows Media Player and play it in fullscreen. 6. Close Windows Media Player. 7. See that winamp is hidden under Notepad, even though its "Always on top" option is still enabled. Other notes: If playlist window is visible, this problem doesn't occur. |

winamp cannot initiate network connection to mapped network drive
- winamp 5.35 clean install
- WinXP SP2 and fully patched an in a windows workgroup - Synology CS406 Network attached storage box in the same windows workgroup. - sound files on a share in the CS406 nas box - drive mapped on winXP box to share using the "net use" command (or My Computer, Tools Menu-> Map Network Drive) to reproduce error 1- Open mapped drive using My Computer 2- play media files using winamp, and ensure files can be played 3- shutdown and reboot XP box 4- Once rebooted, run winamp and attempt to play media files already in the playlist. Playing the files will fail because even though the drive is mapped, no connection has been made to it yet. You must click on the mapped drive through My Computer before the files can be played. |

windows xp sp2.only winamp notify as plugin... when i add multiple files (i have set it to add when pressing enter) winamp either crashes or simply vanishes without an error message.i enclose the error message
[Edit --> DJ Egg] We can't reproduce this. Does it happen after a clean install with no 3rd-party plugins (gen_wanotify / gen_msn7)? yse it does...i should tell you it starts happening after adding about 15.000 songs in the playlist (new error report) Last edited by naumaxos; 20th May 2007 at 16:41. |

- Winamp 5.35, clean install
- Windows XP SP2 (i think it's enough for this one) Resizing any "gen" window (e.g. AVS) only in vertical direction causes the bottom window border piece to be tiled instead of the top one. 1. open AVS, Media Library or Station Info 2. drag it's bottom right corner down (make it taller) 3. you'll see, that from the place where the bottom border piece resided it'll be tiled instead of just "sliding" and making place for the top border piece to be tiled... 4. resizing the window in the horizontal direction fixes it Unfortunately, this is not reproducible with the default skin, because it has both the pieces the same. //EDIT: It's kinda hard to find a skin, that would demostrate it well (I found it while making a skin). Try this one: http://www.winamp.com/skins/details/143600 (i know it's 3rd party but...) Last edited by qee; 20th May 2007 at 20:01. |

Certain file names will not correctly invoke Winamp when Winamp is not yet running. Reported in 5.3x, exactly the same in 5.35.
Example, the real file name is: "v:\MyMusic\Juan Crisostomo Arriaga_Spanish and Portuguese Orchestral Music_03_Symphony_ II Andante.mp3" Winamp File info reports that it is trying to open "V:\MyMusic\Juan Crisostomo Arriaga_Spanish and Portuguese Orchestrـal Music_03_Symphony_ II Andante.mp_3" The two extra characters are UTF-8 characters and are totally bogus. iTunes invoked with this file plays it. Windows Media Player invoked with this file plays it. RealPlayer invoked with this file plays it. Winamp is the culprit. Once Winamp is running, it can be enqueued and played. Yes, this was done with a clean install. Why cannot I not find the disposition of the previous report? Is it really true that I cannot search and find my own posts? Maybe Winamp just isn't worth the trouble. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Your original post was here, which I found by using the Search: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?postid=2182507#post2182507 Alas, we can't reproduce this problem with a clean install of 5.35 (with no 3rd-party plugins) under Win2k (or XP). |

Your help for finding the original post was useless. It is rendered to me as, "Your original post was URL submitted by user., which I found by using the URL submitted by user." If you want me to actually see a URL, then make sure it makes it through your forum software.
Here is more information: When invoking winamp from the command line, it appears that it is possibly related to filename length. If my working directory is C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator THEN THIS WORKS "C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe" "Desktop\My eMusic\Sir Colin Davis, London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)\Elgar Symphonies Nos. 1-3\02_Symphony No 3 in C minor, sketches elaborated by Anthony Payne_ II. Scherzo_ Allegretto.mp3" AND THIS FAILS "C:\Program Files\Winamp\winamp.exe" "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\My eMusic\Sir Colin Davis, London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)\Elgar Symphonies Nos. 1-3\02_Symphony No 3 in C minor, sketches elaborated by Anthony Payne_ II. Scherzo_ Allegretto.mp3" NOTE THAT AT THE OS LEVEL YOU CAN FIND AND LIST THIS FILE NORMALLY: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>dir "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\My eMusic\Sir Colin Davis, London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)\Elgar Symphonies Nos. 1-3\02_Symphony No 3 in C minor, sketches elaborated by Anthony Payne_ II. Scherzo_ Allegretto.mp3" Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is E8CC-306D Directory of C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\My eMusic\Sir Colin Davis, London Symphony Orchestra (LSO)\Elgar Symphonies Nos. 1-3 04/20/2007 12:28p 13,410,640 02_Symphony No 3 in C minor, sketches elaborated by Anthony Payne_ II. Scherzo_ Allegretto.mp3 1 File(s) 13,410,640 bytes 0 Dir(s) 53,048,967,168 bytes free [Edit --> DJ Egg] Ok, I've reproduced the problem under Win2k. Thanks. |

incorrect playlist naming conv. crashes Winamp
- Winamp 5.35, clean install
- Windows Vista, W2k3 Server Menu: Options/Preferences Media Library - CD Ripping playlist generation Specify the naming convention for M3U and PLS playlists: Okay, I did something I now realize is stupid, but it crashes Winamp. I changed the default: <Artist> - <Album>\<Artist> - <Album> to: <Artist> - <Album>\<Trackartist> - <Album> Further attempts to go into CD Ripping Preferences crash Winamp. Requires clean install to fix. An error dialog would be preferrable: "This is an incorrect naming convention..." |

@mark.carranza
Eek! Reproduced. Thanks (the bug is actually in ml_disc.dll) It will be fixed for the next release... well, it won't crash any more anyway. But yeah, using <Trackartist> wouldn't really make sense for Playlist Generation, eg. if it was a compilation. Also note that you don't need to do a clean install to fix it. With Winamp closed, you can open winamp\plugins\gen_ml.ini in Notepad and edit this line accordingly: extractplfmt2=<Artist> - <Album>\<Artist> - <Album> Note: the path to gen_ml.ini varies depending on Windows OS and/or whether you selected separate or shared settings per user in the installer options. For Windows Vista and for 'separate settings per user', the path is: %appdata%\winamp\plugins\gen_ml.ini where %appdata% resolves to the User's Application Data dir, eg. Vista C:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\plugins\ Win2k/XP C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Winamp\plugins\ For all OS'es other than Vista, and for 'shared settings for all users', gen_ml.ini can be found in the %WinampInstallDir%\Plugins dir, usually: C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\gen_ml.ini |

Sorry for cross-posting but I just realized that this BUG should have been put IN THIS thread...
-- Winamp 5.35 (x86) - clean install (after a COMPLETE format) -------------------------------------------------- -- System Specs - Hewlett-Packard (HP Compaq dc7600 Convertible Minitower) - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs) - 1024MB RAM - Realtek High Definition Sound Device, driver version R1.67 (DirectX driver ref. v5.10.0000.5366 (English)) - nVidia GeForce 7300 GT 512MB (DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC), driver version 91.47 (DirectX driver ref. v6.14.0010.9131 (English)) - Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional Service Pack 2 - DirectX v9.0c -------------------------------------------------- -- Steps of reproduction 1. show only the main window, playlist editor window, and media library window 2. resize the MAIN window to the smallest possible allowed area, as well as the playlist editor window, then resize the width of the media library window to match the combined sizes of the main and playlist editor windows. 3. clip them all together (main window to the top-left, playlist editor to the right of the main window, and media library below these two). 4. make sure that the skin set to the MODERN skin and that the "detatch video window" is UNCHECKED. 5. now play a video stream off the internet which resizes the main window to make it bigger. Play something like URL submitted by user. (please note that this station is not always online). Now this will make the height and the width of the window larger to fit the stream video resolution. 6. when you stop the streaming, the main window resizes the height by itself back to how it was but it keeps the width the same as the width of the video that was playing earlier. -------------------------------------------------- -- Obviously NO THIRD-PARTY PlugIn causes this problem |

Another bug..... I think.....
-- Winamp 5.35 (x86) - clean install (after a COMPLETE format) -------------------------------------------------- -- System Specs - Hewlett-Packard (HP Compaq dc7600 Convertible Minitower) - Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz (2 CPUs) - 1024MB RAM - Realtek High Definition Sound Device, driver version R1.67 (DirectX driver ref. v5.10.0000.5366 (English)) - nVidia GeForce 7300 GT 512MB (DAC Type: Integrated RAMDAC), driver version 91.47 (DirectX driver ref. v6.14.0010.9131 (English)) - Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Professional Service Pack 2 - DirectX v9.0c -------------------------------------------------- -- Steps of reproduction 1. Just play this file off the internet in Winamp and then play it in Windows Media Player. http://www.alfaomega*****live/webchannel.asx Is this a special type of file that only works in Windows Media Player? Just in case it only does this for me (but it shouldn't), this is what happens: It shows first the "introduction" to the stream. It is about 10-11 seconds. Then this is the part where Winamp and WMP separate. WMP somehow detects that there is another stream to play after the "Introduction" and plays the real stream, while Winamp thinks that the stream is finished and stops. -------------------------------------------------- -- Obviously NO THIRD-PARTY PlugIn causes this problem |

Winamp 5.35 modern skin with classic color scheme
This is interesting because the only reason that I am getting any errors is because I also have Visual C++, the free version from Microsoft's web site, installed on my computer and so when there are errors I get that "Do you wish to debug?" message box that most people wouldn't get. The thing is - the functionality works fine. If it weren't for VC++ I wouldn't suspect there is anything wrong. If I click on the Shoutcast Radio in the Online Services in the lefthand pane I get a Winamp error message box that says " A runtime error has occurred. Do you wish to debug? Line: 1365 Error: Object expected " If I click on an XM radio channel and start listening the same thing happens, except it says "Line: 533" instead of "Line: 1365." after I click no, however, everything seams to be working perfectly. Winamp 5.35 crash when adding files/enqueue
Hey. When i push the "Add files" button on the playlist, and then enqueue folders/files into my playlist, winamp will crash.
Is this a known issue? Fixed for next release? |

I don't know if these have been reported but:
1)I have over 2500 files in my playlist and I am seeing duplicates in some of the files, namely some at the beginning and and the middle letters (A and I, M for example) in the "Jump to file" section even tho I don't have dupes. 2) Sometimes saving a large queue (100+) in the "Jump to files" dialog box, loading it again only loads about 50 songs opposed to all of them. I've had this problem with a previous version as well. |

#1: would need to see a copy of your main winamp playlist (winamp.m3u8)
#2: same again, would need to see/test with the playlist created (and the main playlist you've got in use at the time) -daz |

Winamp 5.35
Windows XP SP2 - up to date Big/bold font in the media library, only at the search section, see screenshot. Here's how I reproduce it: Open winamp, media library _must_ start at the 'audio' section. Switch to 'video' section (or any other) Switch back to 'audio', the font seems to be fixed. Restart winamp Font is messed up again. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Yup, is known (was related to the ML resize/flicker fixes) and is already fixed in latest internal beta. Thanks. |

Oh yes I forgot this too:
3) If updates to playlist (and saved) occur and Winamp crashes, sometimes the previously removed entries from the playlist will show up with the current playlist, including an odd "/plugins/" entry in the list. [Edit -> DJ Egg] You also forgot to read DrO's reply above ;-) [Edit #2] Re: reply below: OK, cool. |

Re: Post All Winamp 5.35 Core Bug Reports In This Thread
-Winamp 5.35 (5.3.5.1305) -
-System specs (FUJITSU SIEMENS Amilo M1424 (Intel i855PM-333 , Intel Pentium M 725 (1,6 GHZ), 1024 MB DDR RAM (Micron Tech. 16VDDD12864HG335D2)) -Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (German) + SP2 (fully patched) -ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 , Catalyst 7.5, -Intel 82801DBM ICH4-M - AC'97 Audio Controller [B-1], -DirectX 9.0c Juni 2007 Update -Detailed step-by-step method of reproduction (eg. numbered list) Problem: Winamp starts and closes immediately (no window is shown. I can see the created process with Process Explorer). After some tryings I figured out, that Winamp 5.35 crashes if the tool ATI Tray Tools is running in background. Workaround: Run Winamp in compatibility mode (Win95/Win98-ME). |

Why is the link removed?
The programm which causes the issues is ATI Tray Tools http://www.radeon2.ru:8080/downloads/att/ http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/ |

1. Unicode Playlist entries bug, and 2. Crash on MS Powerpoint 2007
There are 2 bugs that I'found in winamp v5.35.
1) Every time I want to remove duplicate entries within my playlist, unicode file playlist entries paths got altered so that they can't be played.. Step: 1. Play any unicode files (in my case it's in Japanese filename), make it double entry 2. Try to remove duplicate entries within playlist editor 3. Unicode playlist entries got altered with strange character so it can't be played. 4. You'll get annoyed by the process of entering the playlist again I use winamp as my default media player, so it's kinda annoying that this kind of bug exist, since my files consist of unicode filename in a large number) 2) And it seems Winamp make my MS Powerpoint 2007 crash when I want to edit opened powerpoint files... Step: 1. Run Winamp 2. Open a powerpoint file 3. Try to edit it 4. Crash in Powerpoint But, if I open powerpoint prior to Running Winamp, it doesn't crash, although if I open a file in new window, the problem occur again... System Information: Acer Power FG Windows XP Professional x64 Editon (5.2.3790) Intel Pentium 4 3.06 GHz Memory 768 MB RAM Video Card : Intel 915GV Express Chipset Family Sound Card : Built In Realtek HD Motherboard : ACER915GVM |

this is known and is internally fixed (and is only a issue from the process of the jtfe plugin being converted over to support unicode but only on main aspects and not all in the last 2 winamp releases). however the mode should still work with a forced playlist refresh or just trying to play it since it should be reverting to 8.3 filenames from what winamp was passing to it). but then again, i managed to mess up the mode so anything is possible with the builds of the plugin out there at the moment -daz |

Long Watch Folders
-Winamp 5.35 - clean install
-Gateway M285-E, Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz, 1GB RAM -Windows XP Tablet PC Edition (equivalent to XP Pro SP2) -ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, driver version 8.261.0.0 -SigmaTel High Definition Audio, driver version 5.10.5082.0 -DirectX 9.0c How to reproduce: 1. Open Winamp -> Media Library Preferences -> Local Media -> Watch Folders 2. Add folder with path longer than 63 characters, i.e. "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Music\Current" 3. Select any directory and click "Edit Selected" 4. Click "OK" 5. Close preferences 6. Click Library->Rescan Watch Folders (In Background) and notice said folder(s) are not scanned AND/OR Open preferences again, go to watch folders, notice any long directories have been chopped to 63 characters, i.e. "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Music\Curr" (which is not a valid path, explaining why nothing was scanned) 7. Editing them to fix them does not work, you must remove them and re-add them (and avoid editing) to get them to stay complete and therefore scan successfully. I think it also chops them down occasionally when I haven't edited them, but I'm not sure. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Yikes! Reproduced. Thanks. |

it's not a wav file, but an mpeg2 layer 3, so change the extension from .wav to .mp2 and Winamp will play it without any problem

depending how the different players work
Winamp is plugin based, so any input plugin opens some particular format see the picture to see the default associations; from the picture Winamp will try to open a .wav file with the (Nullsoft) Waveform Decoder |

Windows Media Player uses - as most Windows Programs do - the ACM (Audio Compression Manager) from Microsoft. Unfortunately, in_wave.dll (the plugin responsible for WAV Playback in Winamp) does not. Instead, it uses a separate library (libsndfile), which is not able to decode MPEG Layer III, and unfortunately the MPEG data is not passed e.g. to in_mp3.dll.
I personally find it a pity that the in_wave.dll does not directly use the MS ACM, as it would be the convention for Windows programs (and would make things much easier as you know: Winamp plays all my files for that I for myself have installed an ACM codec, and I personally have very much of them) - compare it to in_dshow where you know that Winamp will play all video formats you have installed a DirectShow filter for. Instead there is a workaround (known as Nullsoft Waveform Wrapper) which is able to bypass in_wave.dll for files that contain MPEG Layer III data, in particular. (Sadly, it does *not* work for other audio codecs unrecognised by libsndfile, which I would have supposed (check if libsndfile can handle it -> no? -> pass it to windows ACM, unless it is MP3 (then directly decode it through in_mp3 to avoid trouble with older Windows installations not containing an MPEG Layer III ACM Codec)). You can get the Nullsoft Waveform Wrapper here. Note that you can *alternatively* add the WAV extension to in_dshow's extension list to make Winamp decode *all* WAV files through an ACM DirectShow wrapper, requiring this to be installed. In this case, you will not be able to play WAV files for which no ACM codec exists but which could have been decoded by libsndfile, which is not quite the optimum. Also, no metadata is displayed if present. I hope this overview will give you the chance to decide which method is best for you and will make you see that WAV file support is still kind of neglected in Winamp... Best regards, kzuse |

-Winamp 5.35 - clean install
-System specs (Intel Pentium 4. 3 GHz, 512Mb) -Windows XP SP2 -DirectX 9.0c - The file has been coded by means of Nero 7.10.10 Mp3Pro by the codec with options: 96kbit joint-stereo 44100 Mhz. - winamp puts 22050 Khz and a sound corresponding (badly) - For testing the file opened Adobe Audition 1.5. All normally to be lost with frequency 44100 and a sound corresponding. [Edit -> DJ Egg] Sorry, but Winamp does not natively support mp3pro. |

No need to disconnect, just click the 'Next track' button. Tried the URL you gave and only one of the port 80 streams is working for me, maybe they are swapping servers or something, see if it's the same tomorrow. UJ |
